Uuden Ajan Ensemble presents Helsinki's fourth composers' festival at the House of Nobility on 8–9 March 2025. The festival offers two concerts that focus on Cecilia Damström's captivating and socially conscious music.
On Saturday, 8 March at 7 pm, the chamber music concert "Historical Female Portraits in Tones" will be held at the House of Nobility, in honor of International Women's Day. This is the first time that all of Damström's quintets Aino, Minna and Helene will be performed in the same concert. These works depict three significant women in Finnish history through music: Aino Sibelius, Minna Canth and Helene Schjerfbeck.
On Sunday, 9 March at 5 pm there is a unique opportunity to experience an impressive overview of Damström's orchestral music. Uuden Ajan Ensemble will perform six orchestral works by Damström in a grand orchestral concert at the House of Nobility. The program includes the Teosto Prize-winning work ICE, as well as Tundo!, Lucrum, Nixus, Wasteland and the song series Diary with soprano Hedvig Paulig as soloist. The concert is conducted by Tapio von Boehm.
Tickets: €15/20, festival ticket for both concerts €30.
