The "We are Sources of Strength" campaign was our first ever introduction to campus! It was around a month after we were first founded on September 28th and it took place October 24th to October 27th and led up to our first ever meeting. This week was put together by individuals who were a part of the founding group, the group that got the organization off of their feet. Some of the people who were a part of organizing this week included: Emma Mitchum, Jaci Bennett, Jessica Cecchi, Katie Kelton, Lauren Holcomb, Mia Collins, Colin Zimmer, Samantha Elliot, Charlotte Allums, and Sarah Greene.
This week included some super ambitious ideas and super long days. Commitment to this club is what kept us going, we wanted to succeed, and we knew that the best way to successfully do that was to work our butts off all week. The week was tabling every day Monday to Thursday from 10 - 3 which was 4 or 5 hours. We had stickers, candy, smiley face stress ball, and more! The goal was to spread our name, spread who we were, and all of this led up to our first meeting which was taking place that thursday at 6.
However, our most ambition idea of them all was creating the Strength Circle, which is what our club is based on, around the Whirlwind of opportunities statue in the middle of campus. We wanted to make it come to life around it, and in addition, we wanted to make it interactive. We created 8 triangles out of 16 poster boards, and late at night on Tuesday, we chalked the circle and created to strength circle. This idea took hours from planning to completion, but we knew that if we pulled it off, it would look beautiful, and it did. During the next two days during this week, people could go up and write what the strength means to them on our poster board triangles.
This week was a huge success, and was really the starting poin to everything our club is. We went all out for this week, to show people we care about them. We wanted to go in with a bang, and we sure did.
