The Listen For Life 5k was put on by the Contact Listens Crisis Hotline and was truly a pivotal point in our clubs history that changed the course of how the next year would go. We were fortunate enough to be able to run the water station for the race, which was so much fun.
At the Race we also did some tabling to help advertise the club, but we didn't have too many things to give to people, however we were able to connect with the Crisis Hotline.
This is where the Crisis Hotline introduced themselves to us and mentioned that they wanted to partner with us further, in a bigger way. This news was fantastic but we didn't know what they meant until 2 months later, they offered to put us as part of their programming.
Helping at the 5k was absolutely a blast, we got to meet so many fun people, we got to connect with different organizations in the area, and even got a once in a lifetime opportunity.
This 5k and helping at this water station, was truly the changing point in our club to be able to slowly start a movement into creating change at the University, but also in the community.
