Gaining technical knowledge today for tomorrow’s economy includes seeking mentors from professional arenas. USU student employees are encouraged to connect with career-related professional associations in order to get an insider's perspective about their fields, gain tips from industry experts and start making career-building connections.
Here are two students who made career advancements via connections they made with professional associations as collegians.
As a corporation run by student for students, student employees, under the direction of staff supervisors, learn and then train one another with the technical knowledge required for each department.

Students in Administration learn to manage, edit and update the Intranet - the corporate news and file sharing source.
Student business assistants learn and use the Concur travel and expense management system.

Resident expert
As a student business assistant in Accounting & Finance, Emery Hernandez learned every aspect of the Concur.
"Emery’s ability to learn Concur was crucial to the success of the implementation of Concur. Emery was responsible for teaching new users how to use Concur. She even prepared a written guide for new Concur users" said Associate Director of Accounting and Finance Joe Illuminate. "I was so impressed with Emery’s Concur expertise that I recommended that she attend the 2017 Concur Fusion Exchange one-day conference in San Francisco to become even more proficient in Concur."
Two Student Building Managers created this training video about First Aid/Wheelchair protocols. The students used Adobe Premier video editing software to create and edit the video.
