Galle Sketch Walk - 14th December 2025
Galle Fort is always a wonderful place to visit and is globally recognized as a top tourist destination. But experiencing it with knowledgeable guides and taking the time to capture its beautiful historic buildings offers a truly different perspective.
For the third edition of our series, we were delighted that our longtime friend and artist Sandeepa Vithanage not only helped organize the event but also hosted us at his gallery at the start of the walk and accompanied us throughout.
Even though many of us had walked these streets countless times before, this experience allowed us to see them in a new light. We gained a deeper understanding of how the fort functioned in the past, along with a richer appreciation of the historical, cultural, and architectural significance of its buildings.
We also obtained approval from the Department of Archaeology for this walk and were guided by Mr. Tharanga Liyanarachchi, a highly respected and knowledgeable expert in the field.
