Urban Sketchers Colombo, the local chapter of the global Urban Sketchers community (www.urbansketchers.org), began in 2021 with just five passionate individuals. Since then, it has grown into a vibrant and diverse community of over 450 sketchers, with a social media following of more than 4,400 and an average of 35 participants at each meetup.
Our community brings together people of all ages and backgrounds, united by a shared love for observing and capturing the city through art. By promoting on-location sketching, we foster a deeper connection to places and encourage people to see their everyday surroundings with fresh eyes.
We meet once a month at different locations across the city to sketch our surroundings. Participants of all skill levels and age groups are welcome, and all our monthly sketch meets are free of charge.

About 'Urban Sketchers'
The global community of Urban Sketchers began its life 2009 as a Flickr page created by a journalist/artist named Gabriel Campanario. It gradually grew into a community, and today it is a non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Washington, USA with over 450 chapters world wide. Their mission is to raise the artistic, storytelling, and educational value of on-location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people worldwide who draw on location where they live and travel.
