INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL & LESSON PLAN
LESSON IMPLEMENTATION
The lesson implementation followed the 7E learning style where in segments such as Elicit, Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate and Extend would be present. This gave learners’ a different strategy when it comes to learning scientific lessons.
The Elicit phase include soliciting the knowledge of learners on the previous topic. Then, the Engage phase would be a context-based real-life application of the lesson. After which, the Explore phase spoke of the experiment time of the learners – developing their critical thinking, collaboration and creativity skills.
After the result of the experiment, they led to the Explain phase wherein follow up questions were easily answered based on the data collected. Then, a wrap-up conclusion facilitated by the teacher followed to confirm the results obtained by the learners.
Broadening the scope of learners’ knowledge and skills happened through the Elaborate phase. Their learnings are applied in a wider range as they tried to apply their knowledge on real-life problems. After that, an Evaluation phase followed to verify if the learners truly understood the lesson in a form of formative assessment. And lastly, the Extend phase was given to learners as a take home activity which produced an output.
Implementing the 7E Inquiry-based learning style is one way to adapt the student-centered approach. The focus of this strategy is to make learners the heart of the whole learning and teaching process. Experience is always the best teacher that’s why learners should have first-hand experiences of concepts. Thus, after the implementation, learners would not be shy to express their thoughts and raise questions – leading to meaningful learning. We aim to produce learners who can thrive in all facet of the world, and as a UNP student-teacher, I would make that happen.
Pushing through, Thai learners were not as active as Filipino learners during class recitation or participation but during the lesson implementation, learners were answering each segment through raising their hand and were able to present their data table in front of the class. This showed their deep understanding towards the lesson and their extensive effort to show their interest to learn.
