How to get your tax documents from Hometax.
Once you have entered the hometax website, click "회원가입" at the top of the page.
STEP ONE:
Then, click "주민등록번호로 회원가입".
On the next page, you will have three options to verify your identity. The simplest is probably the phone option so I'll explain that here!
STEP TWO:
Click on "휴대전화".
Enter your name and ARC number. Do not check the box saying "만 14세 미만 가입시 체크". Press "인증하기".
Your name must be exactly the same as your ARC, i.e. LAST FIRST MIDDLE, all in capital letters.
In the box that pops up, type in your phone number and choose which provider you are with (SKT, KT, LGU+, etc.) Check all the boxes and press "다음".
Type in the code that is sent to your phone and press "다음". If you didn't get the code, press "재전송" to resend.
From this point I have no pictures, sorry! I hope my instructions are clear enough.
STEP THREE:
Press "동의함" for all the options.
STEP FOUR:
Fill in your information.
1 - 사용자아이디 (Username) When you have chosen your username, press 중복확인 to check if it is available.
2 - 비밀번호 (Password)
3 - 비밀번호 확인 (Password again)
4 - 전확번호 (Phone number) You can leave this blank.
5 - 휴대전화번호 (Mobile phone number)
The two check boxes here are asking if you agree to receive messages via SMS (수신 = yes, 소신거부 = no) and whether you want to sign up that number for cash receipts (등록 = yes, 등록거부 = no). Receiving SMS is up to you but I'd recommend signing up for cash receipts in order to increase your tax deductions for the next year.
6 - 이메일 (Email) The check box is asking if you agree to receive messages via email ( 수신 = yes, 소신거부 = no).
Leave the bottom section blank as it is not needed to fill that out. Then press "회원가입 완료하기".
At this point, signing up should be complete!
LOGGING IN:
Go back to the Hometax home page.
Click "연말정산 근로자 소득·세액공제 자료 조회". If it's not on the home page, you can search for it in the search bar. However, during tax time it's usually there.
Log in using any of the methods.
공동·금융인증서 = NEIS or Bank certificate
간편인증 = Kakao, Pass, etc. certificate
아이디 로그인 = Log in with your ID and password
You may need to verify your identity again at this point.
GETTING THE DOCUMENT:
Choose the year you need the document for (the year that has just finished).
Leave all the boxes checked and click on the orange button saying "한번에 조회하기". Your spending for the year should come up one by one. When this has finished, press the blue "한번에 내려받기" button (it's next to the orange one). [If you want to print the document, press the "인쇄하기" button].
Once you've pressed the "blue "한번에 내려받기" button, a window should pop up. Do not uncheck any of the boxes. At the bottom of the window there are two options - "개인정보 공개" (share private info) and "개인정보 비공개" (do not share private info). I don't think it really matters which you choose so it's up to you. NOTE: if you share private info, your school will be able to see the names of all the clinics and pharmacies you visited.
Then press "내려받기" and your PDF should download!
DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME OF THE DOCUMENT.
IMPORTANT:
This will likely produce a version of the PDF that says "미검증" (unverified). Some schools are happy to accept this. If your school wants the verified version: go back to that pop up window mentioned above. Look at "참고2" and find the words -Adobe Acrobat Reader 다운로드. Choose the Windows용 version or Mac용 version depending on what you are using and download and install Adobe Acrobat reader.
Then go back to the window and look at "참고4". Find the words "진본확인 프로그램 다운로드 and again choose Windows용 version or Mac용 version depending on what you are using. Install the programme that downloads.
When you have downloaded and installed both programmes try to open the PDF again. Hopefully this time you should have the verified version.
THE FINAL STEPS:
From this point it will depend on whether you have access to NEIS or not. If you do not have access to NEIS, it's likely your handler/main coteacher will ask for your PDF and upload it for you. If you have access to NEIS, you can do it yourself following the steps on the "Uploading to NEIS" page.
