These instructions are for IN-PERSON appointments - apparently you can renew online now too!
Make an appointment at the Busan Immigration office using HiKorea.go.kr
Times go quickly so it's best to make an appointment sooner rather than later.
To make an appointment, go to hikorea.go.kr and click on the "Apply" button under "Reserve Visit".
To make an appointment, you'll need to either log in or continue as a non-member.
When making an appointment, choose General Civil Service Center (Others), and tick the box for "visa extension".
You can leave the “Purpose of Visit” box blank.
Make sure you print your appointment receipt! You should bring this with you to the appointment.
The immigration office is located between Busan Station and Jungang Station on line 1 of the subway.
It's the Korean Air building. To get in, enter the revolving door on the left of the building (when looking at it).
Make sure you bring cash to your appointment. You’ll need 60,000 won.
When you get to the immigration office, go to the little booth at the back and trade the 60,000 won for a revenue stamp.
You’ll need to give the certificate to the immigration worker during your appointment.
The booth DOES NOT TAKE CARD. (There is a Woori atm at the office - not sure for other banks)
You can apparently also buy this stamp online before you visit at e-revenuestamp.or.kr
You can get the application form from HiKorea.go.kr or at the office itself.
You do not need to fill in all the sections!
You do not need a photo!
You should tick the box for “Extension of Sojourn Period”.
You do not need to fill in the “School Status” section.
You should fill in the “Workplace” section.
The “Business Registration No.” will be given to you by your school and the BMOE.
You don’t need to fill in the “Intended Period of Reentry” section.
You don’t need to fill in the “Refund Bank Account” section.

Proof of address - the best thing is the letter from immigration warning you about your expiry date*
60,000 won revenue stamp from the booth
Certificate of Income (소득금액 증명원) (another tax certificate you should get from the Hometax website - this might be impossible your first year so don't worry!)
Appointment receipt
1) I don't have the letter from immigration to prove my address!
You can also use a gas/electric bill as long as it has your full name on it
If you don't have any of these, you'll have to get your school to complete a "Confirmation of Residence/Accommodation" form (임대차계약서 사본 및 거주/숙소제공 확인서). You'll also need to take along a copy of the lease contract for your house.
2) I didn't print my appointment receipt!
If you log in to HiKorea then go to "MyPage" then "Reserve Visit Status", you should be able to print it out there.
If you are not a member, then click "Petition Application" -> "Reserve Visit" -> Reserve Visit Status to find the confirmation.
