Model During and After Toothbrushing

· Vary your toothbrushing speed, and have your child try to match it.

· Model facial expressions or head movements in the mirror, such as shakes & nods.

Model Actions & Sounds at Bedtime

· Stretching and yawning

· Cradling your head

· Pretending to sleep or snore

· Waking up

· Turning pages in books

· Pointing to/labeling characters & objects in books

· Rock, hug, or tuck in a stuffed toy or doll. Add singing or soothing vocalizations to the routine for your child to imitate.

Create a Bedtime Routine with Words and Actions

· Share nightly.

· Incorporate a favorite song or rhyme.

· Include a closing action for your child to imitate such as blowing a kiss, waving, or hugging themselves.
