Taking Turns During Dressing
· You and your child can take turns and share the responsibility of deciding on their outfit. For example, take alternating turns as you choose each piece: Your child chooses the shirt, then you choose the pants. Your child chooses the socks, then you choose the shoes.
· Alternate turns manipulating clothing with assistance (or without) as needed. For example, take turns putting on/taking off shoes, fastening Velcro, or pulling items on or off.
· Make zipping and unzipping jackets into a game. Take short, alternating turns raising the zipper up or pulling it down. Label each turn as you proceed: “My turn! Your turn!”
