National Summary

The United Lavian Republic, commonly called Lavia or the ULR, is a nation mainly located in Argos, with significant land in West Shamat. It is a constitutional monarchy/constitutional federal republic made up of 22 states and one territory, being home of 125.349 million people. Sharing little land borders, the nation only borders Dhornaper and Sabrata via land, both in the southwestern area of West Shamat. Via the water, Lavia share maritime borders with the nations of the Oceanice Republic, New Westmore, and Lamandica. The nation has historically controlled the intersection of the Archal Ocean, Baliwick Sea, and Argos straight, as well as being a large player in Argos regional politics. While not the largest in Erene, it still commands significant power over trade, military, and political matters where it has interests. Despite being a large player in regional politics and a sizeable one in international politics, the Republic practices "Lavian Military Neutrality," which directs Lavia to not engage in military or political actions in happenings which don't directly threaten Lavian interests, citizens, investments, or direct allies and trade partners. This has kept Lavia out of most controversial international events, as well as keeping exports open to more countries.

Being a nation born of colonialism, the concept of Lavia is in fact only 271 years old. Originating from a Three Seas Lavinsworth Company settlement on the island of Raiara, the true beginning of Lavian history began on February 17th, 1775 when Sir Lavinsworth declared the Kingdom of Lavia. This Llyndorran king monopolized power of the island, eventually expanding south to the islands of Manzaro and Makinar in 1777. The signing of the Ketu Friendship Treaty with the Swabati Kingdom in 1787 opened trade into West Shamat, expanding Lavian influence early on.This capture of significant power allowed Lavia to sit idle, industrialize, and grow as a nation until the Swabati-Wituli war from 1821-1824 pulled Lavia in, ending up with the defeat of the Wituli and strengthening ties between Lavia and Swabat. A period of peace and international inaction saw Lavian goods spread around the world, proving as a time of prosperity and trade. This ended however when Queen Veronica took the throne in 1876, bringing much more expansionist ideas to the kingdom. Under her reign, the nation would go through the Virginia war, the folding of Swabat into the Kingdom of Lavia, as well as building relations with Luonaco and the recently established Oceanice Republic. This was all for the purpose of expanding Lavian power and influence, a life goal of Queen Veronica. (more history to come soon, haven't done ww1 and 2 history for Erene yet)

The Lavian government system is a mix of constitutional monarchy, constitutional federal republic, and representative democracy with four branches. Composed of the Executive (President/Representative Minister), Legislative (National Council/Lavian Commons Council), Judicial (Lavian High Court), and the Royal (Royal Family) branches, all based on the need to keep the others in check. The only exception to this power check is the Royal Branch, as it lacks much political and lawmaking power after 1947. While the federal government does have it's own regulations and laws, states and other local level governments are free to make some laws of their own, as well as manage police forces, and public service programs which aren't required by the higher government. While being a multi party system, voters frequently elect the National Workers Union (NWU), the party which has mostly been in power since the transition from a monarchy to a republic.

A modern, established country, the ULR ranks high in international trade involvement, environmental cleanliness, innovation, and education. With a GDP of $8.288 trillion as of 2025, Lavia holds significant stakes in international trade and business. It's citizens enjoy many government welfare programs along with a GDP per capita of $66,124, earning the nation a relatively high HDI of 0.918. The nation's welfare systems keeps income inequality low, as well as the nations income tax regulations and robust legal system ensuring no loopholes are exploited. The nation is one of the founders of the Erene Economic and Humanitarian Pact (EEHP), focusing of international business cooperation as well as increasing Lavia's already large tourism sector, not to mention being a THEP partner as well as already close ties with United Hydronia and other members of the Thyven-Hydronian Economic pact.  While the nation is not the largest spender on the military, it's weaponry and export market is still quite impressive, and has been upkept rigorously to keep up with it's regional rival, the Oceanice Republic.
