The Pre Roleplay History only has notable history events. Most is glossed over as generations, or seasons. Events just before the roleplay are considered notable as it will have been in cat's recent memory. Events given here can be used in kit tales and stories.
Tales of these times vary from cat to cat, from clan to clan. Truth be told, it started with two cats. Talonpaw, a young apprentice from a clan far, far away, had been taken by Twolegs. Far from StarClan, Talonpaw met a young molly in the cages they were held in. Yew was a molly haunted by dreams from StarClan. She claimed that the cages were holding them in a boat, that would take them across the seas. Though she had to do a lot of explaining.
Talonpaw and Yew escaped on land, and had managed to elude the Twolegs. At a spur of a moment decision making, the pair got on a large rail driven monster, they called a Thundersnake on a silver path. When they had gotten off, they met a local cat by the name of Winsprey. Winsprey and their band of cats taught Yew and Talonpaw about the trains, and the world of travel it helped with. They shared their stories, and when they left, a couple of cats joined them on their journey. Toby and Tofu.
While not a clan at all, the four cats made their way north, following a star that called to Yew. With the help of Toby and Tofu, they took a train far north, where it stopped. Along the way, they met cats of all kinds, who joined them in their journey or stayed in their own life. Talonpaw began to take over the group, and suggested they become a clan as Yew's dreams requested.
While Yew protested, claiming there needed to be 5 clans, not just one clan, The cats agreed to being apart of just one clan. Talonpaw intended to be leader, but a sign proved that it was Yew who would be leader. With Talonpaw's prodding, Yew took on the name Yewstar. The clan had no name yet, nor a place to call home, but it still proved to be a safe space for many cats who joined them on their journey.
Yewstar led the clan further north, merely following her dreams and the place she had been shown. Talonpaw was chosen as her deputy as she named him Talonstrike. The clan had yet to be won over to StarClan, and despite Talonstrike's frustration, Yewstar viewed it as acceptable. No cat had to believe in anything specific.
Though the constant move drove cats to begin to break the safe space apart, as they believed they'd settle down soon. The Clan was in a struggle as they found their way to the valley they'd call home.
The clan split into two when they arrived. Yewstar called her clan YewClan, which had cats calling her selfish. Foxwatcher, a warrior Yewstar had named, decided to make her own clan. FirClan.
Foxwatcher kept her name, and held firm she didn't need nine lives. Something that later, taking on the suffix -watcher would be a tradition for leaders who refuse their nine lives in FirClan. FirClan and YewClan battled over land, undecided of where they'd lay their claims. The woods was plentiful in prey and sheltered them well from predators. However, YewClan was pushed from the woods to the tundras. YewClan was left open for predators to see them as they struggled to adapt to the terrain.
YewClan settled themselves by the far north, near the glaciers. Where their greenleaf camp would be in current times. They fought FirClan hard, fighting for land at the fringes of the forest and springs. In the end, the clans settled their territory. However they still fought at the borders, and the leaders formed a tentative alliance. However it was easily broken. A fight at the Wooded Springs was brought to the Star Gathered Cliffs where their war ended.
With peace, the two clans fell into a quiet era. For generations it seemed to be that way, with only minor hiccups like border skirmishes, or the occasional rogue. However, in some generations, YewClan began to have a larger problem. Rogues began to encroach on their territory, and began to push YewClan further north. A young deputy took the place of the leader, and called himself Ravenstar.
While clan cats today would call this leader a strong, respectable, and gracious leader, Ravenstar was far from kind. The tom was ruthless, cunning, and had made deals with the rogues. However such deals had backfired, and the clan was tossed into war with the rogues. At a request for help, FirClan helped YewClan chase the rogues off. Ravenstar was found responsible for many deaths of the rogues and several YewClan cats alike by FirClan. However there was never any consequences it seemed.
Though FirClan's relations with YewClan crumbled with this.
Mere seasons passed, before FirClan began to grow restless with YewClan. The clan was split on how to react to Ravenstar's brutality, and the Clan was growing uneasier with each season. The Clan began to redirect their attention at each other. With brewing anger, FirClan began to splinter.
The change wasn't immediate. It was only a generation before one cat finally stepped up. Valewhisker. Valewhisker stepped up, and began a peaceful split of FirClan. Wishing to make YewClan pay, OakClan became a full Clan. Led by Valewhisker, OakClan was ready at the cape for war.
Meanwhile, FirClan found peace with YewClan. OakClan disagreed and began to wage war with YewClan. A mistake that would be seen down the line. Seasons and generations began to pass that the war would continue. OakClan and YewClan grew to not know when the war had started. Only a few elders could remember where it started.
In this time, YewClan had a cat become leader, who reflected the very same values of Ravenstar. While their name has been erased from the Clan's history and is told as tales of clan destruction, YewClan still holds shame for this very leader.
OakClan and YewClan warred, with their leader taking power, and picking them off one by one. YewClan had eventually ambushed and chased OakClan out of their own territory, and forced them into fights on YewClan's terms. OakClan had no choice but to disband, as YewClan's leader refused to let up.
The war between YewClan and OakClan ended while YewClan's leader was still in power. Though it did not save them from an early death. No cat particularly liked them. OakClan was devastated by the war, and thus, OakClan was no more. YewClan's deeds became known by FirClan, who had stayed out of war, and this alone set them up for war.
YewClan and FirClan began another war after OakClan's destruction.
YewClan was chased from their home when a polar bear took over their camp.
FirClan ended the war when YewClan revealed they were struggling with a polar bear.
YewClan moved to where the Green leaf camp is now.
FirClan had struggles with leadership in the middle of a cold snap.
YewClan was forced out of the Green leaf camp by another bear, and their leader, Pronghornstar devised nomadacy for the Clan.
FirClan's warrior, Pineconefur has a vision and breaks off to create PineClan.
PineClan and FirClan begin to fight over territory, as Pineconestar wants more than FirClan thinks they should have.
The war ends when PineClan's deputy and Pineconestar's daughter, Ottersqueak dies. His granddaughter is made deputy, and this starts PineClan's Leader's bloodline tradition.
An alliance forms between YewClan and PineClan.
FirClan warriors and apprentices start going missing, wolves invaded FirClan territory.
While FirClan tried to avoid at first, they were forced to pick wolves off one by one and chase them out.
PineClan's leader, notable as Ripplingstar, calls on the alliance with YewClan to chase wolves out, forming a temporary alliance with FirClan as they had chased them out just a season prior.
FirClan and PineClan's alliance breaks off and the clans fight.
The feud stops and the clans fall into a tentative peace in the valley.
Generations pass and a famine strikes out. Setting the scene for the beginning of the roleplay.
This is a legend that tells the tale of the journey to the valley. They tell a tale of how a Cheetah, Leopard, Lion, Lynx, and Tiger who came together to make YewClan and travel to the north. North being home, and a symbol of the stars. The tale starts with just a Lion, trapped, but escaping with the help of a swift Cheetah, wherein they gain friends in a Leopard who shows them the Rail Monsters. (Trains). They make friends with a Tiger who chases of rogues that threaten them, and then a Lynx that knows the valley quite well. This legend does not address the split of YewClan and FirClan.
This is a legend that has been passed on from before the Clans were of existence, and neither shared by locals. This legend is usually a cautionary tale. Often this tale will tell about an apprentice who went looking for the Yeti and never came back. Other variants will tell of the Yeti helping the clans. Typically it's described that the Yeti is a protector of the valley.
While this tale is found mostly in YewClan and PineClan, this story tells the tale of a young cat that was lost and looked to the stars, StarClan came down and told the young cat to follow the North Star. Every time this young cat felt lost, it could find it's way with this star. The young cat finally came home, despite the distractions along the way, and was welcomed home.
This is a fairytale that is often shared in YewClan. This story tells a tale of a young warrior who wanted only the best for the clan. In the midst of a famine, the young warrior was looking for places that may have lots of prey. Having heard of a place in the south, the warrior began to investigate, however a wolf showed it's face. The wolf convinced the warrior to bring the clan further south into the wooded springs. The Clan had to fight the wolves off, but at the end of the day, the wolf had still tricked the young warrior. A tale to not trust strangers.
Tales will be added as time goes on. As this is an ever growing list.
