In roleplay, we are hoping to provide a fun experience. In order to ensure the experience is carefully moderated to keep players from going over hard and sensitive topics, or help prevent characters from being out of lore.
All roleplay threads in the server must be PG13.
This means all threads opened and roleplayed within the server must be age appropriate and also may not contain profanities. These threads on the server may be open to others to join, private between you and another rper, and more. Please ensure all roleplays are respectful as well.
Submitting RP logs from private dm rps are allowed.
RP logs are often used to place things in your character's history, or rps that would otherwise been missed time wise. Please use the RP log submission form. Only staff will have access to these rp logs unless otherwise specified. These rp logs must still follow in server rp rules.
You are allowed to make an open roleplay threads.
These types of roleplay threads are encouraged! There are ping roles for this very type of thread! If you wish to make one, feel free to ping all with that very role. Please ensure however, that no one is excluded.
You may not have NPC apprentices or mentors.
NPC apprentices or mentors may not be current. You may refer back to former ones for historical purposes, however, apprentices and mentors are assigned by the leader. Your fresh apprentice may not have a former or current NPC mentor and your warrior may not have a current NPC apprentice. It is assumed in rp when a mentor is assigned to a freshly created apprentice, that they have been their apprentice for their entire apprenticeship.
Response writing, and ensuring timelines are correct.
Responses must be at least a paragraph long. In this roleplay, paragraphs are defined by, if they have three or more sentences. Roleplays should be in third person and past tense. In this group, Cats will age up by a moon every two weeks. These age ups are done on the 5th and 19th of the month. Threads must be replied to within two weeks, or they will close. You may ask staff to reopen threads, and ask for extensions, but be aware we may nudge you to move it to an rp log.
Addressing sensitive topics and materials.
You may not introduce, discuss, or roleplay these topics. Such topics include: Cannibalism, Suicide, R*pe, Self Harm, etc. If a thread has gone into this territory, Staff have the right to close and stop your roleplay at any point.
Do not power play, god mod, or metagame.
You cannot have a character with information they shouldn't have, strengths they do not possess, and controlling what another character does or thinks. Prophecies are exclusively from Staff, and you may not have your cat interact with StarClan or the Darkforest without explicit permission. Reincarnation is not allowed and magical abilities gifted or inherently had is not allowed.
Plots and Permissions
In a general rule of thumb, you may need to ask clan staff or server staff for permission to do a plot for your character. Major Plots that require permission from someone, may not be within the past of a character. Plots such as Murders, Exiles, Forbidden Romance, Leaving/Joining a Clan, etc, require permissions.
AI and anything of the like.
The use of AI for roleplay or character bios is explicitly not allowed. Character bios must credit the author, and roleplay responses should be from you. Plagiarizing writing is not allowed, and AI images are not allowed.
Creating and making character relationships.
Please make families! You are open to make characters siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, parents, mates, kits. These are all open to be made as adopts by you, or players may submit them. These are submitted while in the creation form. You reserve the right to say no, and if a character is randomly your cat's family member, or it's not right, you can let a staff member know.
Kits created must have family.
All kits made within this server must have at least one roleplayed parent. If they are below the age of 6 moons, they must have a parent and/or adopted parent. This rule cannot be circumvented by making the kit have littermates, they must have a caretaker, or in other words, Parent or adopted parent.
Litters can be rolled.
Litters born into this group can be rolled out as how many kits your cat may have. While many are decided by roleplayers themselves, sometimes if so desired, amount of kits in a litter can be rolled, their biological sex can be rolled, and even genetics if you so desire, all customizable!
Age Gaps and Having Kits.
Cats below the age of 14 moons may not have a mate. Cats below the age of 16 moons may not have a litter of kits. Cats between the ages of 12 to 16 Moons may only take a mate within six moons of their age. Cats between the ages of 17 to 24 moons may only take a mate within twelve moons of their age. After that, any age is welcome.
Cross Clan Relations
These require permission from clan staff. While these may not be in the past of your character, these types of relationships must be reviewed and discussed by clan staff. This is a major event that must be roleplayed out. These relationships still require perms even if temporary. Though be aware permanent cross clan will require one or the other to join one clan.
We follow to Cat genetic accuracy.
This means that cats will follow basic genetics. Relatives and kits are kept track of in order to ensure they follow proper basic cat genetics. This means, you may not have a red kit come from two black cats because the kit's grandparent was a tortie. You are not expected to know or understand cat genetics as staff will give possible options for you. As a note, Male torties/calicos are always infertile. Some designs might not fit with the photo reference given, and as such, staff may request you change the photo to fit the art, or change the art to fit the photo.
You are free to make character alterations.
These alterations may not be drastic once they have been roleplayed, but they may have changes done in small areas. Images may be changed out for similar ones, and if you have not roleplayed them yet, ages, appearances, personalities, etc. may all be drastically changed.
There are character limits and slots.
In order to prevent players from deleting characters to make room for more, players are given a total of four slots when they first start roleplaying in this server. To gain more slots, players must reply to roleplays and respond to activity checks. As Players reply to roleplays, they gain slots overtime and Activity checks may also grant slots. Slots received from replying to rps come when players have replied to 1 rp per week for 5 weeks. There's a max of 4 empty slots.
Creating NPCs and where they come in.
Characters may have NPC family. Unfortunately to avoid character bloat. NPCs on Character pages, won't be listed. However if it has been important enough to the character in rp, staff will list them. NPCs may not be roleplayed without staff permission. One time non house cat NPCs are allowed without staff perms.
Your characters will rank up when time comes.
There is no need to worry! Kits will become apprentices automatically when they become six moons old. When apprentices hit the age of eleven moons, you are given a rank up form to give their warrior name! Usually they will rank up as soon as the form has been seen, however you can specify holding it back until at least fifteen moons. If you do not fill out this form, your apprentice will rank up at fourteen moons with any warrior name the leader chooses.
Activity Checks are done 4 times a year!
On the first of January, April, July, and October, an activity check will be made. You have 14 days to reply. You will pinged on the first, pinged 7 days from then, on the 12th, and final call on the 14th.
Activity checks must be acknowledged.
We use a form on the discord server you must fill out, that of which means you must reply with information such as your characters, the last rp you did in the last 3 months, and so on.
A Visual Guide for Photos to Art References.
A Photo Reference is a must!
In this group we keep track of genetics. This means we do require real phenotypes. All characters must be submitted with a photo reference of an unedited adult photo that is about 600x600 in size. This image will define your cat's phenotype. Duplicates of already used photo references may not be used unless you intend to do an art reference.
Art references
Characters are allowed to have art references. This is encouraged for anyone who wants their cat to look just a tad different. Art must be yours, but keep in mind, that you'll still need a photo reference. If the photo reference is that of a calico, then your art reference must be that of calico. You are free to ask the phenotype of any art reference to find out what to look for in your photo reference. These references must be semi realistic in nature as well. Fur length must also stay the same in length to the photo reference.
Canonical Appearances
Canonical appearances are applied to whatever has been submitted. On basis, your cat without an art reference will refer back to the photo reference for their canonical appearance. However, Art references will always take precedence over Photo references, If you desire to have both, but have the photo reference their canonical, you are free to leave a note in their submission files about it.
Redesigns and Their Limits.
Redesigns are an easy fresh way to refresh your character and start moving with them again. Redesigns after a month may not change photo reference phenotype, however art references may be changed out, but keep in mind, once a calico, always a calico.
Characters must have acceptable names.
Characters in clans may not have twoleg names, and outsiders joining clans must take a clan name unless otherwise specified by the clan leader. This rule is strict for all clans. Outsiders can have any name within reason. Names may not be too long. Names may not be derogatory. Names may not be inappropriate. Staff may tell you if a name is invalid for the group. They may not have names of things they know nothing about, unless it is a kittypet. In the naming list under guides, there is a list of acceptable prefixes and suffixes.
Characters with Mental or Physical Disabilities.
These must be handled with care. You must gain perms from the staff in order to play a character who is physically disabled or has a major mental illness. If a character's mental illness or physical condition impedes the way they handle life, it requires perms. Despite YewClan's ability to handle deaf cats through basic cat sign language, we ask that perms are still asked for deaf YewClan cats. We ask that characters with these problems are researched to be properly portrayed. Staff reserve the right to revoke these permissions.
Your cat will be pure-blooded to the group they're added to.
This means that your character will have been born in that group and will have had two group born parents. This means you may not add an outsider cat to a Clan without roleplay as an outsider, and roleplay into becoming a clan cat. Remember to get perms for these kinds of plans. Half-clan kits must be gotten through roleplay alone.
Giving character accessories.
Characters may have leaves, flowers, petals, and any natural element. There should be realism to it. Feathers are not allowed behind the ears. Woven flowers, thorns, and unnatural accessories may not be added to non kittypets. Kittypets may have crowns, collars, harnesses, and more as long as the twolegs put them on them.
Be aware of breed limitations.
There are some cases where there are limitations to a cat's breed. Hybrid cats fall under these limitations. These are cats like F1-3 Hybrid cats, and they are not allowed. Some breeds also must only be kittypets. These are as follows: Munchkins, Sphynx, Lykois, and various other hairless and/or short legged cats.
You may not have non domestic cats.
Your character may not be a fox, or a big cat, or some variation thereof. The focus in this roleplay is of domestic cats in clans. These types of creatures may be used as one time NPCs in roleplays or plots, however they can never be official characters, nor may they have a personality or relationships with characters.
