Logan Brewer

Treasurer

Logan (he/him/his) is a fourth year in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program. He graduated from The University of Memphis (UofM) with a BA in Psychology and a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience, as well as with a minor in Philosophy. Shortly after, he went on to complete the MSGP program at the UofM. His primary research interest involves the use of animal models and event-related potentials (ERPs) to study psychopathology, as well as using ERPs in human studies to better understand the neurological underpinnings of clinical disorders. He is a proponent of the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC), and advocates for a more dimensional and transdiagnostic view of psychopathology in research. His current research focuses on ADHD in collaboration with Dr. Helen Sable and Dr. Jeffrey Sable under the mentorship of Dr. Frank Andrasik. In addition, he collaborates with the Counseling Center’s Relaxation Zone to study stress and psychological functioning in college students. When he is not conducting research or seeing clients, he enjoys playing euphonium, video gaming, and trying new craft beers.

Logan's advice to graduate students:

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt

You will find yourself surrounded by a lot of amazingly brilliant people, and it is easy to start comparing yourself to them and to question whether you are good enough. However, remember your experiences, even among others in your same program, are unique. Whether it be your research, mentors, clients, classes, friends, life…all of you will travel down different paths over the course of graduate school and beyond. So, even if you do start to compare, as we all do, remember it’s rarely ever a fair one.
