About Us

The PGSA is a student-led advocacy group dedicated to representing the interests and well-being of their fellow students in department-wide issues and promoting an environment of inclusivity and cultural humility. To do this, the PGSA works with several other groups in the department, including but not limited to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, ALANA, and the LGBTQ+ Task Force. You can keep up with the PGSA's efforts by following us on Facebook and Instagram: @PGSA_UMEM.

The PGSA provides up to 3 votes in faculty meetings and is primarily in charge of distributing travel funds to other graduate students in the Psychology Department. Other major responsibilities include ensuring students' needs are represented at faculty meetings, promoting student wellness, and supporting and facilitating student grievances. Student elections for the PGSA are held annually.

The views, information, or opinions expressed on this page are solely those of the graduate student representatives elected to the PGSA and do not necessarily represent the Department of Psychology or The University of Memphis.
