Ethical Frame
Ethics in general is the study of what is considered good or bad and right or wrong. It attempts to identify and analyze moral principles and the motivations behind them (Singer, 2025). The Ethical Frame is similar but is uniquely applied from an organizational standpoint. This frame focuses on the alignment between organizational actions and moral and ethical norms. Consistent ethical behaviors creates an organizational soul which becomes the baseline for future decisions within the organization (Bolman & Deal, 2021).
Reflection
Organizations face constant struggles aligning their own values with the demands of the business environment. Politicalization of culture, biases, and demands for constant growth force companies to confront difficult decisions with potentially unethical outcomes. Leaders should strive to consider the ethical ramifications of their decisions, especially without sacrificing long-term success for short-term needs. Leaders must also rely on the moral culture they have cultivated and strive to be constant stewards of ethical values for the organization.
