[Original Songwritting]
For this task, I am unable to get hold of any the evidence our original song writing. However, I do know how we approached the stimuli.Â
For song 1, we had starting talking about the genre and what we wanted our piece to sound like, then we moved onto finding a chord progression. After we had found our chord progressions, I had laid down a drum beat that acts as a lovely, funky backbone to our song. Then Lacey, the singer had come up with some amazing lyrics that we then put together with the song to complete the song. I personally think that this song was a success.
For song 2, the lyrics are focused around the character Medusa. For this song we took the same approach by figuring out how we wanted this song to sound and what chord progression to use. I then made up a beat which fit the song perfectly. Then in the chorus', I had the idea to add a little pause after the first half of every bar, which Vinny the guitarist loved and we kept it. I think that this song was a massive success.
For song 3, me and the guitarist Vinny started off by just playing something random in a completely random time signature. I then went to count this beat and we discovered that we had an amazing 11/8 time signature going. We then collectively decided to change the time signature to 4/4 for the chorus to add a nice bit flavour to the song. After we had gone through the song and learnt the structure, we decided to change the end and make half our song really calm compared to the first half. The lyrics for this song were definitely tricky, but our amazing singer Lacey was able to pull some amazing lyrics out of the bag and display them beautifully in our TV Studio session.
