INTRODUCTION

I have been playing and performing on the drums for the past 2 years but have only just started performing locally. I have made a great deal of progress with my drumming skills over the past year and have been looking at studying genres and looking to expand my education further within the music industry. I have studied Music and Information Technology to help with my further education.

I first started getting into music around the ages 7 to 8 when I started learning the guitar, to this day I still play the guitar as a side instrument but strongly believe that my drumming skills are extremely better than any other of my music capabilities. Then I moved on to learn how to play the basics of piano at the age of 11, then from the ages of 11-13 I progressed in my piano skills and learnt to play vast amounts of songs. Around the ages 14-15, I started learning how to play the drums and this is where I felt the most comfortable. I practised for hours everyday after my school hours and continued to progress rapidly. By the end of my first month into drumming I could play various different beats, keep in time, and learnt a good range of rudiments polyrhythms. Finally, at the age of 16, I had picked up how to play the basics of a bass but had stopped trying to progress in this area because I wanted to focus on mastering the drums and take this with me in my education.

My Inspirations

I personally have 3 main artists who have inspired me to become an drummer and write my own music and perform learn famous and well known songs. These inspirations have formed my dream of wanting to become famous song writer and perform and produce songs for people worldwide.

My first inspiration is Travis Barker. This is the drummer for Blink-182 and he has made a massive impact on my future and listening to his drumming for the past 5 years. I have been obsessed with his music and it has made me want to keep improving my skills to the best of my ability. Blink-182 is a band that will forever have my heart and can always lighten the mood of things, all of they're music is phenomenal. It has really made me think about writing my own music and some of their drum beats are even used for my practise sessions were I make up groves and practise my playing speed.

My second inspiration is Paramore. The drummer for Paramore is known as Zac Farro and has had a major impact on the way I look at music. I have made numerous attempts to play songs that are written by Paramore and I have always had fun playing them and I would some day hope to meet Zac because he a pure, kind-hearted man of true talent and he treats his fans with love and pride.

My third inspiration is not a major artist who performs world wide, but simply a YouTube who does amazing song covers. This is Justin Swiney and he had an amazing variety of drumming skills set out in all of his videos. I have been watching his videos for the past 8 years of my life and it had been a great push for me wanting to learn the drums in year 10. He is really impressive and what he does for a living on YouTube is where I would want to start my career with music.

[MY DREAM]

My dream is to be a famous performer who can perform music world wide. I want my music to be powerful, inspirational and I want there to be a strong meaning behind my lyrics. I want to be able to publish songs and teach music to students and young people to start their musical careers and be able to set them on their way with what ever they want.

To do these things I have set myself 3 goals. These 3 goals are:

Set myself up for studying music in University get a degree in music to be able to go and start a musical business somewhere where I can teach people music. This means earning a top grade in my instrument and potentially start giving lessons to students in schools and colleges locally.
Manage my time so I have enough time to spend in my life with family and friends but still be able to properly organise time with that musical business and form a band.
After performing locally and releasing songs with the band, perform abroad at least once or twice and have a few songs published and out to the world with a decent number of fans to be cheering me on.
Alongside these goals, I want to be able to meet the people that got me into music in the first place and some of my favourite artists. It would also be a whole other dream to be able to meet my Idol Travis Barker because he was the main person to get me into the musical industry and I would love to be able to play any form of musical piece with him.
