I was born in Rome on November 11, 1966.
I was an undergraduate student in Mathematics at the Dipartimento di Matematica "G. Castelnuovo" of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (1985-1990) where I obtained my degree "Laurea in Matematica" with a thesis "Azione di gruppi mediante automorfismi dell'algebra di Cuntz di ordine infinito" under the supervision of Professor Sergio Doplicher.
I was a graduate student at the Mathematics Department of UCLA (1990-1994) where I obtained an MS degree (1993) and a PhD in Mathematics (1994) with a dissertation "Approximately inner and centrally free commuting squares of type II_1 factors and their classification" under the supervision of Professor Sorin Popa. In the academic year 1991-92, during a leave of absence at the IHÉS, I attended courses at the Collège de France (by Alain Connes), Paris VII (by Georges Skandalis), and the EHESS (by Jacques Le Goff).
I was a Postdoctoral fellow at the Section de mathématiques de l'Université de Genève (with Professors Pierre de la Harpe and Rostislav I. Grigorchuk) during the period 1994-1996 and a Collaborateur Scientifique at the Institut de mathématiques de l'Université de Neuchâtel (with Professor Alain Valette) during the academic year 1997-98.
For 3 years (1995-98) I was Assistant Professor ("Ricercatore universitario") at the Dipartimento di Matematica of the Università degli Studi dell'Aquila (L'Aquila).
Since 1998 I am Associate Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria of the Università degli Studi del Sannio (Benevento).
In 2012 I obtained the national habilitation as a Full Professor of both Mathematical Analysis and Algebra & Geometry.
My Erdös number is 3, thanks to Wolfgang Woess and/or Gabor Elek.
