Four years ago, a star actor at a small summer theater passed away unexpectedly, leaving a possible love interest and a friend/mentee grieving and wishing they’d had one last conversation with him. When a new director who claims to speak to the dead arrives with her niece as a stage manager, she vows to help them establish contact with their lost friend. Meanwhile, the dead actor and a long-forgotten usher roam around as ghosts, critiquing the plays, pulling pranks, and discussing life and death. During a seance conducted by the new director, an unexpected connection is established between their two worlds – but with it, comes further complications.
Waiting in the Wings was produced at Lakewood Theater in Madison, Maine in Sept-Oct 2023. This was a self-produced and directed show that was meant to get the play out there for the first time, and it was an incredibly successful and well-received show. I have since honed and fine-tuned the script to be as entertaining, thought-provoking, and practical as possible. I would love to get this play onstage more and more. Below is the first scene as a sample. Please contact me if you'd like to read the whole thing, if you'd like more information, or if you'd like me to beg you to produce it. I will.
