Andrew, a theater director, and his boyfriend Sam, a head chef, plan out a nice night for their parents to meet: dinner and a show. However, when Bentley, a local happy-go-lucky stoner, drops by with some pot brownies leftover from his family potluck, the night takes an unexpected turn. With the help of Ella, a waitress he has a crush on, Bentley must keep Andrew and Sam from finding out that not only have their parents accidentally gotten stoned, but they are also all under the impression that Bentley is their son's boyfriend. What will win: order or chaos? It's a farce, you already know the answer.
The Potluck Farce was produced at Lakewood Theater in Madison, Maine in September 2024. It was self-produced and directed, and everyone who came to see it had a great time. I would love to see this show find more theaters to be performed at! Below is the first 15 pages of dialogue as a sample. Please contact me if you'd like to read the whole thing, if you'd like more information, or if you'd like me to beg you to produce it. I will.
