Faculty Mentors

It is proven that the faculty-student relationship is key determinant to student retention. Making opportunities available for students to ask questions of faculty and to expand their network of relationships is one of the many factors related to student success. Faculty Mentors design and deliver monthly workshops, presentations and cultural experiences, called TRiO Challenges, geared towards student’s needs. Workshop topics may include:

· Securing financial aid and scholarships

· Budgeting for a bachelor’s degree

· Career development

· Time Management

· Test taking strategies

· Self-esteem

Our mentors will also create opportunities for our students to succeed in their field of study and provide further non-cognitive development through experiential experiences. Some of these experiences may include; service-learning trips, leadership conference, student advocacy workshops and much more.
