TIC RULES
Training
Teachers are required to go through an initial teacher training prior to starting the program.
Returning teachers may ask for a refresher training if needed.
Teacher trainings will be scheduled for early-mid January 2024.
If needed, additional help with tank setup can be done upon request. Please contact your Eastern Region Wildlife Education Coordinator to schedule help with a tank setup.
Equipment
Tanks will be given out by appointment to authorized schools.
Some years there is a waitlist for equipment
Tanks and TIC equipment must be set up and running at least 2 weeks prior to egg delivery to allow the water to settle before adding the eggs. This also allows enough time to determine if new or replacement equipment parts are necessary.
Participation
Any hours you spend doing maintenance or work on or with the tanks should be recorded using the volunteer portal (See "Logging Your Volunteer Hours" page.
New TIC teachers can sign up to be a volunteer through the volunteer portal as well.
One break year every two years is allowed to be able to keep your equipment and continue on in the program .
If you plan to leave your school for any reason (i.e. retirement or transfer), all equipment must be returned to NDOW. Further arrangements can be made if you'd like to continue participating in the TIC program at your new school.
Field trips for your release should take place before Spring Break.
If you'd like help or a presentation with your release fieldtrip, prior arrangements must be made with your Eastern Region Wildlife Education Coordinator at least 2 weeks prior.
FINAL REPORT
Final reports must be submitted within 2 weeks of completion of the program.
