School social workers are mental health professionals who are dedicated to the social and emotional wellbeing of students. Alongside parents, teachers, and staff, we help identify and address student needs that can interfere with learning and/or the successful navigation of their academics. School social workers provide information about important social and emotional issues. This can happen during assemblies, within individual classes, as small groups, and with individuals. We serve as student and family advocates, and often work as part of a larger interdisciplinary team to address a wide variety of student needs. In the ABC school district your school Mental Health Professional also serves as the on-site liaison for our Foster Youth and Homeless, or housing insecure, students.

MTSS offers the potential to create needed systematic change through intentional design and redesignation of services and supports that quickly identify and match the needs of all students.
