Spring Awards Competition

The Spring Awards Competition is an adjudicated event for piano students sponsored by the Tri-City Chapter. Selected students represent our Chapter at the State Conference in June. Applications and fees are due by the February Chapter meeting, and the competition will be adjudicated on a date in March.

Spring Awards Competition 2024 will be March 23. The deadline for registration is February 13.

DOWNLOAD REGISTRATION FORM

Spring Awards Competition is sponsored by the Tri-City Chapter of WSMTA.  Students of member teachers who participated in the current year’s WSMTA Music Artistry Program may compete for a place on the WSMTA State Honors Recitals.  Students should bring their MAP certificate with them as proof that they played in adjudications.

Students who wish to perform at the state conference should so specify on the application in order to be considered.

Students of non-members may compete only in the medal categories and will not be eligible to play at the WSMTA State Honors Recitals.   Participation in local piano adjudications is a requirement (see No. 13 below in the Business Policy and Procedures).

The piece played for competition need not be one of the pieces played for adjudications.  Students will compete playing one memorized piece.  All performances must be less than 5 minutes in length.  (This is a State requirement and cannot be negotiated.)

Each piano group listed above will have three winners receiving 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals, with honorable mentions to be acknowledged.  Performers will be selected to represent the chapter at the State Conference in June.

**This is a one-day competition.**

Only registrations postmarked or given to the Chair by the deadline will be considered.

Please type or print clearly when filling out the registrations.  Return to the Spring Awards Chair by February Chapter meeting date.
