🌳 Welcome to Trees of SBSC
Shaheed Bhagat Singh College is home to a rich variety of trees that not only add beauty to our campus but also play an important role in maintaining ecological balance. From providing shade and improving air quality to serving as habitats for birds and supporting soil fertility, these trees are vital to our environment.
To celebrate and document this biodiversity, the Department of Geography has initiated the Tree Identification & QR Coding Project. Under this initiative, students have identified and recorded trees across the campus, noting their:
Scientific name, common name, and family
Local uses and fun facts
Ecological role (shade, soil fertility, bird nesting, carbon sequestration)
Cultural significance (sacred, medicinal, historical values)
📌 Each tree on campus is now equipped with a QR code.
When you scan the QR code using your phone, you’ll instantly access detailed information about that tree — including its scientific background, uses, and ecological importance.
This project also features a digital booklet “Trees of Our Campus”, which serves as a guide to explore and appreciate the green heritage of SBSC.
🌱 We invite you to scan, learn, and connect with the trees that make our campus greener and healthier.
