CDW is a provision in car rental contracts under which the renter is charged an extra fee for coverage, and the rental company agrees to waive its right to recoup losses from damage to the vehicle. Most policies include a non-waivable deductible that the renter is responsible for if damage occurs to the rental vehicle. Oftentimes, the deductible can be lowered by purchasing Super CDW or zero-excess insurance at the time of pickup. Many major US and Canadian credit cards will cover this insurance for 30 days and 45 days, respectively. Please be sure to check with your credit card company to make sure they cover CDW. CDW is also known as LDW (Loss Damage Waiver)
