At Eastwood, our philosophy on transition reflects that of the whole school. We believe all individuals have the right to education in an equal, engaging and safe environment. This leads to optimising the potential of each individual and promotes a friendly, safe and healthy school. We focus this through our schools values of Respect, Kindness, Honesty and Resilience and through our school motto of ‘Enthusiasm Precedes Success.’
As teachers, we draw upon the strengths of our students and acknowledge the diversity which exists within all of us. Our inclusive practices develop self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
When transitioning our students, we focus upon the concepts of learning, self and relationships. This is illustrated through play based investigative learning. Play based investigative learning is the corner stone for engaging learning, providing experiences which have density, difficulty, depth or diversity. Underpinning all of our learning is evidence-based practice and curriculum-based teaching, examples of which are available to you below.
