Friday 30th of February
1.30pm- 3.30pm: 1-1 student testing for some students.
Visit our school and talk through what you see. When you visit, have a play on our climbing equipment. Use this as a time for positive school talk and a time to talk through any worries.
Practise snack and lunch. Eating times at school are 10am for fruit snack, 10:50m for snack, and 1:30pm for lunch. A week before school, try to eat at these times using the lunch box and water bottle you have purchased. Use this time to teach your child how to be independent.
Just like eating times, toileting is an important skill for children to be independent with when at school. We fully understand this is a journey some children are still on, and so modelling prior to school will really help set children up for success.
Play fun activities at home which replicate school. This includes examples such as drawing, playdough, Lego, playing board games and imagination play in the garden.
The first day of school and subsequent weeks will replicate our transition program. We are also mindful of our students' need for continued support and assistance with creating social connections throughout the whole day. As such, playtimes are supervised over the first few weeks until children settle into school. In response we have found students quickly begin their journey to learning at school.
