Lenka Milash is a Ukrainian-born artist based in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Creativity has been part of her life since childhood, when she began drawing at around the age of five.
She works across different creative disciplines, combining materials, techniques, textures and scales. Her practice includes painting, mixed-media art, miniature worlds and decorative projects, often transforming ordinary objects and everyday impressions into small, independent stories.
After moving to Ireland, Lenka discovered a new depth of inspiration. The country’s green landscapes, changing light, rain, historic buildings, people and animals have become an important part of her creative world. Through her work, she expresses her emotional and spiritual response to the atmosphere around her.
By exploring different art forms and bringing them together, Lenka has developed her own creative language, shaped by intuition, emotion, detail and freedom of expression.
My creativity cannot be placed within a single artistic discipline. I have always been drawn to experimentation, whether through painting, miniature rooms and houses, or working with wood, cardboard, clay, found natural materials and everyday objects. I also enjoy transforming discarded items and giving them a second life as part of something completely new.
Inspiration can come from almost anywhere. A project may begin with a colour, a tiny detail or even an idea from a dream. It might be sparked by a photograph, a video, a postcard, the atmosphere of a particular place or an ordinary scene that might otherwise go unnoticed. I rarely know in advance what will become the starting point of my next work.
I am inspired by the world around me: plants and fields near my home, streets and buildings, welcoming cafés and interiors, journeys through Ireland and the different towns I visit. I notice changing light, rain, greenery, thoughtful design, animals in the landscape and the warmth of the people I meet. These impressions gradually turn into colours, textures, forms and new creative ideas.
After moving to Ireland, I had to rebuild my collection of creative materials and tools piece by piece. At first, I made many projects from found or discarded objects, using whatever was available. Over time, I gathered more professional tools, better materials, decorative elements, pressed botanicals, stickers and other details that allowed me to develop my ideas more freely. However, the ability to recognise creative potential in ordinary or unwanted objects remains an important part of my practice.
Art is not simply a hobby for me. It is an essential part of my life and the way I express who I am. Wherever I live, I naturally begin collecting materials, noticing details and bringing the ideas in my mind into physical form. I put my emotions, moods and lived experiences into my work, including both joyful and difficult moments.
I am especially drawn to abstract art and to the freedom of creating without following strict rules. I aim to bring each work towards my own understanding of perfection, rather than reproducing techniques exactly as they appear in textbooks. By combining different materials, art forms and processes, I create pieces that may feel familiar in some ways but remain unusual and personal. Each work may contain warmth, stillness, humour, strangeness, atmosphere or a small trace of magic, but it will always contain a part of me.

This handcrafted scrapbook composition celebrates memories, personal stories and meaningful moments. Layered papers, miniature clothespins and carefully selected decorative elements create a unique mixed-media artwork designed to display treasured photographs. The images shown are for demonstration purposes and can be replaced with personal photographs, allowing the piece to evolve with new memories over time.

Where Magic Begins

This miniature painting was created during a period when I was writing my own book about magic. Looking for fresh inspiration, I found myself surrounded by books, herbs, crystals, candles and the mysterious atmosphere of witchcraft and folklore.
I paused my writing for a while and captured that feeling on a small canvas, preserving the moment that helped new ideas come to life. For me, this painting is a reminder that inspiration often appears when we allow ourselves to wander into new worlds.

A Second Life
Acrylic on canvas, recycled 3D-printing filament remnants.
This artwork was inspired by a small 3D-printed house created for exotic pets. Because the entrance was printed at different heights, the printer had to switch repeatedly between yellow and grey filament throughout the printing process, leaving behind many unused filament remnants.
Rather than throwing them away, I transformed those leftovers into a textured frame surrounding the very house that inspired the project. Although the surface resembles plush fabric at first glance, it is made entirely from recycled 3D-printing filament.
This piece celebrates the idea that one creative process can become the beginning of another, giving overlooked materials a meaningful second life.

A Child's Smile

This painting was inspired by a community event held at Market Cross in Kilkenny. What impressed me most was not only the celebration itself, but the care the organisers put into making sure children felt included and happy.
They invited entertainers who created balloon animals, giving parents a chance to relax while their children laughed, played and watched simple balloons become something magical.
That thoughtful attention to families inspired me to paint this artwork. For me, it is a reminder that even the simplest acts of kindness and creativity can leave a lasting impression and become part of a child's happiest memories.

Nature's Imprint

This artwork was inspired by walks through the Irish countryside, where I found myself surrounded by countless shapes and shades of green.
During one of those walks, I began collecting fallen leaves, fascinated by their unique textures and patterns. Instead of painting them by hand, I used the leaves themselves to create their own natural prints on the canvas.
Each imprint is a direct mark left by nature, making this painting a collaboration between the natural world and the artist. It celebrates the quiet beauty that can be found in the simplest moments outdoors and reminds us that nature itself can become part of the creative process.

Evening Companion

This painting was inspired by a quiet evening in Ireland. While enjoying a cup of tea, I noticed a black cat sitting peacefully nearby, calmly watching the world around it. There was nothing extraordinary about the moment, yet it felt warm, comforting and unforgettable. The crescent moon on the collar symbolises the arrival of evening, while the different coloured eyes add a touch of mystery. This artwork is a reminder that inspiration is often found in the peaceful moments we almost overlook.

This painting is inspired by Marco Diaz from Star vs. the Forces of Evil, a character whose humour, loyalty and sincerity made him unforgettable to many fans. I wanted to capture one of his light-hearted moments as a reminder that animation is not only for children. The stories we love often stay with us as we grow older, continuing to inspire our imagination, bring comfort and remind us of carefree moments filled with laughter.

Between Light and Shadow

This painting was inspired by a difficult period in my life, when I was surrounded by heavy emotions. Even during those days, the outside world continued to invite me forward. A simple walk, a fresh cup of coffee, the sky above me, and the quiet beauty of everyday moments reminded me that hope was still there.
The contrast in the girl's hair represents the idea of yin and yang. Just as every act of kindness carries a small shadow, every difficult moment also holds the possibility of light. Darkness and happiness are never completely separate. They exist together, shaping who we are and helping us appreciate both.

Forest Lights

Inspired by quiet evenings spent on the terrace with a warm cup of tea, this piece captures a small childhood dream. As daylight slowly faded, I found myself wishing I could see fireflies again, just as I remembered them from summer nights in the countryside.
An empty Jägermeister bottle became the starting point for this work, giving discarded glass a second life. Soft lights inside transform the bottle into a tiny forest lantern, while hand-crafted yarn moss and natural textures recreate the peaceful atmosphere of an evening in nature. It is a memory preserved in light, inspired by childhood, quiet moments, and the magic hidden in ordinary things.

Piece of the Field

Created from an empty juice bottle, this decorative vase gives ordinary glass a second life. Its design was inspired by the fields and ears of grain growing near my home. The natural textures and trailing green details bring a small touch of the countryside indoors, while the vase can be filled and styled in any way its new owner chooses.

An original decorative miniature that brings together two unique scenes. One window reveals a cozy herbalist's workspace with plants, glass vessels, and natural details. The other captures the atmosphere of a quiet woodland corner with botanical illustrations, a wooden ladder, a hanging lantern, gathered herbs, and soft evening lighting.
A small pull-out drawer completes the piece, adding both charm and functionality.
