Professional Ethics should be at the center of every business' success. Professional Ethics is a set of rules and regulations that establish a standard that members of a company must uphold. These ethics are typically accepted by society and ensure a well-functioning corporation and happy employees. Professional ethics, to me, means living in a Christ-like manner, It is to exhibit qualities that God has put in place for you to uphold, leading to the benefit of surrounding team members. Professional Ethics carries extreme significance in Project Management. Honesty, responsibility, respect, and fairness are at the core of ethical behavior. My value system comes from the word of God, guiding me through my life to exhibit all of these ethical characteristics. Colossians 3:9 speaks to honesty: "Do not lie to one another, since you stripped off the old self with its evil practices." The importance of responsibility is shown in Philippians 2. Paul instructs the Philippians on their responsibility as he has sent Timothy and Epaphroditus to guide them in spreading the Gospel. In project management, I will be responsible for communicating effectively with my peers. While I am not comparing the two settings, I am emphasizing the responsibility of communicating as a Project Manager. Respecting one another is clearly stated in 1 Peter 2:17, "Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the King." As a Project Manager, I am expected to honor my peers as we push toward the same goal. This allows for a more joyful work environment and opens the door to greater efficiency. I am also expected to be fair in this profession. God exhibits grace to me in my wrongdoing, He disciplines me when needed, and blesses me for doing the Lord's work. It is only fitting to exhibit fairness like my peers in this environment. Up to this point, I have not faced any ethical challenges in any of my experiences. Still, I am confident in acting professionally and ethically during such events. Frequently, Professional Ethics should be addressed when ethical dilemmas arise. As a Project Manager, I will have to enforce ethical thinking and professionalism by leading by example.
