Communication has been a significant point of emphasis in many of my experiences in life. The first that comes to mind is in college basketball. If | were to not communicate with my teammate, this could lead to a misunderstanding and even cost our team the entire game. The same is true of the need for more communication skills in project management. It could cost our company a more significant revenue opportunity. It could even cause our company to lose employees. I have been able to work towards perfecting my communication skills here at CRC and in my current internship. I can exhibit nonverbal communication effectively. I am also able to verbally communicate effectively. At CRC, I have taken courses that have allowed me to hone these communication skills. These courses include Human Communication and Business Communication. These courses have provided me with experience in both the outside world and the business world. As stated earlier, playing collegiate basketball has helped me improve my communication skills, as we must be loud and clear with our statements. It could lead to miscommunication if we "beat around the bush" with our statements. Basketball has taught me to avoid "sugarcoating" and has encouraged me to be concise. Communication has proven to be necessary in my current internship as well. Effectively communicating with my colleagues has allowed me to efficiently pass along ideas, schedules, and messages to parents, co-workers, and superiors. These experiences improved my communication skills dramatically and enhanced workplace efficiency.
