BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
To help us take care of our equipment (and ensure your safety), please follow these simple guidelines:
Please avoid dragging the board or its plastic skeg (fin) across rocks or sand.
Don’t climb onto the board in shallow water, deeper water is gentler on both board and paddler.
Always return the board to the stand when you're done; please don’t leave it on the beach.
Never stand the board upright on its skeg, and avoid leaving it in direct sunlight, as heat may cause it to over-pressurise and rupture.
TOP TIPS FOR SETTING UP AND USING YOUR PADDLE:
Adjust the paddle so the top of the handle is about 25 mm (an inch) above your fingertips when you raise your arms.
Hold the paddle so it’s angled forward when paddling.
Keep your feet shoulder-width apart and square to the board (not in a surfing stance).
Paddle close to the board to maintain a straight path.
To catch a wave: start by paddling parallel to the wave, and turn at the last moment so you're lined up at a right angle when it reaches you.
In an emergency: lie flat on the board, tuck the paddle blade under your chest with the handle pointing up, and paddle with your hands, like a surfboard.
A FEW FINAL REMINDERS:
Be aware of tide and current conditions before heading out.
Have fun! Paddleboarding is great exercise and a wonderful way to explore the lagoon.
