At one point, I was on social media a lot, but in 2024 I had a self-reflection moment and changed how I used it. I started focusing more on school, my health, my goals and taking more breaks helped me feel more grounded. Now I use social media more intentionally by following motivational and positive pages that support my mindset instead of draining it. Overall, I think social media can be positive or negative depending on your boundaries and self-control, so it's important to manage it and stay still stay present in real life offline too.
I chose this Pew Research chart because it shows how often people use social media each day and how frequently users check platforms. It stood out to me because constant exposure can affect mood, confidence, and focus. It also connects to my own experience, after my 2024 self-reflection, I started using social media more intentionally and focusing more on school, fitness, and my goals.
Social media impacts society because so many people use it daily and check it most times a day, which can affect mood, confidence, and focus; especially when people compare themselves or take in negativity. This project reminded me that I've made progress with how I use social media by setting boundaries and focusing more on my real life. Overall, it can be positive or negative depending on how people choose to use it.
