Usage of literary books may help individuals have the opportunity to use them in their process of language learning or development. It is possible to say that using literary books have a variety of advantages such as using the four skills of language in an effective way and creating cultural awareness among individuals who come from different parts of the world. In other words, the advantages that using a literary book are that it provides individuals with the opportunity to be aware of the cultures, helps them have an understanding about what the elements of other cultures’ beliefs, values are, they are authentic materials, they provide a fun language environment for individuals themselves and for them to share their thoughts and feelings. Literature promotes language learning, cultural understanding, and personal growth by emphasizing the reader's own interaction with and response to the text as well as their own thoughts, feelings, and opinions (Carter & Long, 1991). Literature in any language serves as a reflection of the values of the society at the time it was created since language reflects the customs, traditions, and beliefs of a society (Permawardhena, 2005, p. 94). Permawardhena (2005) lists the many advantages of using literature in EFL classrooms and claims that doing so improves students' abilities in a variety of areas. The incorporation of literature enables students to improve their analytical and critical thinking abilities while also exposing them to various cultures and the language used in various communities depending on the time period the work was set in (p 96). Students will come across a wide variety of events through literary texts, broadening their perspective on the world. The pupils will eventually learn to assess situations and offer commentary. Additionally, they will be enhancing their vocabulary, grammar, and four fundamental abilities while doing them (Sentürk, S., & Kahraman, 2020)
The project aims at fostering creativity and encouraging to foster a lifelong love of reading, developing literacy and supporting language development. In relation to this, it is aimed at increasing success of teachers in terms of promoting them using literature in their classroom, supporting professional development of educators, empowering teachers/trainers/educators with resources to use while implementing language skills and developing cultural awareness with the help of literature, equipping teachers with the mindset of presenting literary text with the aim of developing language proficiency and cultural awareness, promoting the educational authorities, policymakers and decision makers to provide the educational setting with literary texts for the purpose of helping the learners improve their language development through the following intellectual outputs:
