The competent teacher is an ethical and reflective practitioner who exhibits professionalism; provides leadership in the learning community; and advocates for students, parents or guardians, and the profession.
This teachers institute that I had the opportunity to attend connects with indicator 9H which says "the competent teacher understands the importance of modeling appropriate dispositions in the classroom". While I was able to attend a teaching institute for PE teachers, it helps me as a teacher to understand and show what I value in education and why I believe education is important. Because I am passionate about Physical education, I will demonstrate it in my classroom on a daily basis to my students of what I was able to learn and take away the information that I learned at the institute. I found attending this institute very effective and beneficial because I was able to learn a few things that I can apply in my own classes. I feel like attending this institute shows that I take my job very serious and was willing to attend something so that I can improve my teaching abilities and to get better as a teacher. I will model for my students and make sure that everything I do to prepare myself for my students is to make them learn and be better in my class. I am always willing to learn.
I feel like attending this institute have taught me a lot about the importance of education in my own profession and to always be willing to learn and improve. Continuing to make connections between education and things we are interested in will show us that it can provide so much for us if we continue to strive for more knowledge.
Take a look at my Educational Philosophy paper here! They will explain my overall views of education and how I believe it can make a different impact of every student.
These papers explain the "ins" and "outs" of my personal views of education. It gives a brief overview to why I think education is so important and how it can make a different impact on every student. I was also asked to make connections between my personal views and famous philosophers. I believe this took my papers to a whole new level because I was able to make connections between my own thoughts on education and how philosophers viewed education as well. These papers also allowed me to make connections between what we as students should get out of education and many aspects of the outside world. I think at times we tend to forget that many of the things we learn are there to teach us more of how to survive through real life experiences. My papers reminded me of how important the little things are and to always strive to learn as much as you can.
These two papers connect with indicator 9H which says "the competent teacher understands the importance of modeling appropriate dispositions in the classroom". While I was not able to have an artifact of my own teaching to show this, the papers help show what I value in education and why I believe education is important. Because I am passionate about education, I will demonstrate it in my classroom on a daily basis to my students, as well as to the other staff members I engage with throughout the day. I will model for my students why these things are important so that they too can value their education and the opportunities placed before them.
I feel like these papers have taught me a lot about the importance of education and to never let our students forget the opportunities it can bring us. Education allows us to explore the real world and to gain as much knowledge about anything we could possibly want to learn about. Continuing to make connections between education and things we are interested in will show us that it can provide so much for us if we continue to strive for more knowledge.
