The competent teacher builds and maintains collaborative relationships to foster cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social and emotional development. This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues, students, parents or guardians, and community members.
In the Faculty Staff Meeting document, you will see the monthly plans and events that my cooperating colleagues and I attended our meeting to discuss about. I have been fortunate to have a wonderful staff and colleagues that allows me to feel wanted and comfortable to approach and discuss anything that I need to mention to them for any help. I have learned so much from these staff meeting and helps me know what our school is involved with and what events we have so that I can be more involved and attend these events that need help. A couple times out of the month, we will have faculty meetings to discuss important and updated information that we need to know and be aware of. We all work diligently together to come up with ideas and new information. When we do have discussions, there are times where we do run into conflict and we have to work together to problem solve and make important decisions together. I like how everyone is willing to hear from anyone and seek everyone's thoughts and ideas. We all hear each other out which makes its so easy to speak up at these meetings.
I think this faculty meeting connects really well with standard 8K which states, "the competent teacher participates in collaborative decision-making and problem-solving with colleagues and other professionals to achieve success for all students". I chose this standard because I believe I participated in collaborative decision-making as well as problem-solving to make sure we had an effective staff meeting for the following month. We all work really well together so that our students and school would benefit from our planning. Working diligently with your colleagues will help you be successful as well your student's learning.
One takeaway I had from attending our staff meetings is that creating a respectful yet honest relationship with your colleagues is so important. Having that safe and honest foundation will allow you, as well as your staff members to be more successful and easier to work with. I have had a wonderful staff team to work with at my school and I feel that I have learned so much from them. They have supported me, encouraged me, and have asked for my advice on certain situations. I believe creating that safe and friendly environment allowed this relationship to flourish.
This is a Google Calendar that the school staff and church will update important information and events going on with the school so that every one can look o the school and church calendar and see what is going on with our school. This calendar is updated with school events and throughout each month through out the whole school year.
In this Google School Calendar, you will see the monthly plans and events that my cooperating colleagues and I plan and add on important information for the school to see and then we discuss about it. Anytime we have a school event, sports practices and games, choirs, church, rentals, reading events, book fairs, etc., we add to this calendar so that everyone who is apart of the school can see and view it. I have learned so much from these google school calendars and helps me know what our school is involved with and what events we have so that I can be more involved and attend these events that need help. We all work diligently together to come up with ideas and new information. Sometimes we do run into conflicts when we have a few things scheduled on the calendar that are at the same time, and we have to communicate and work together to figure it out. I like how everyone is willing to hear from anyone and seek everyone's thoughts and ideas. We all hear each other out which makes its so easy to speak up at these meetings.
