Our research grant entitled, "Fostering a mutual support network among aspiring and early career Teachers of Color" have been funded by the Spencer Foundation Small Grants program in Feb 2022 with Dr. Amanda Frye (PI) and Dr. Tina Cheuk (co-PI) for $50K for 3 years.
Teaching for Inclusivity and Equity Residency (TIER) project will create a residency program in the School of Education that will recruit and train 44 new teachers in the areas of special education and bilingual education and place these teachers in local school districts. Press release LINK
Funds will be used to two lines of inquiry:
How can Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) foster belonging and thriving for pregnant students and parenting students?
How can historically white universities support belonging and thriving for teachers of color?
Supporting undergraduate research in areas of work-family justice for pregnant and parenting students
Supporting graduate research in areas of work-family justice for pregnant and parenting students (Submitted for funding support $2500)
