The images above were taken at American Bangor quarry. This closed quarry is one of the last quarries in the region which still has both its buildings as well as the head frames from the incline cableway.

The images in the viewer above were taken at the Penn Big Bed Slate Company in 2016 located in Slatedale. This slate quarry is still fully functional and is one of the last remaining fully active quarries making commercial products in the district. It sits between the remains of 6 quarries listed in the Charles Behre Book Slate in Pennsylvania (Schuylkill, Manhattan, Locke, Stenton No. 2 and Royal Blue). The current active hole is located just north of the mill building and sits between what was the Manhattan and the Schuylkill. For more information about the Big Bed Company CLICK HERE.
