What is Sith Sorcery?
Sith sorcery, also known as Sith magic, was an arcane expression of Force ability first developed and practiced by the original Sith species through which they manipulated the power of the Dark Side. Sith sorcery is accessible only to Force Sensitives who possess an intrinsic, or deep connection with the Dark Side of the Force.
Through the recitation of spells or incantations, the execution of hand gestures and/or the handling of various artifacts, Sith were able to channel the raw power of the Dark Side in ways that were entirely mystical and non-conventional. It is often described as destructive and nature-defying in its application and conjuration. The strength of Sith sorcery was derived from negative emotion and with each expression, grew more stronger and more corrupting.
The perception of Sith magic varied depending on who was subjected to its power. Some Force Sensitives felt as though it consumed their life energy, while others became physically weakened and felt like all their strength was being siphoned. Some Force Sensitives without training, or those with a latent Force connection suffered headaches while in an atmosphere permeated with the residual energy of Sith magic. Each person who experiences Sith sorcery recounts a different experience as well, with some describing seeing it as alike ripple effects on disturbed water, while others see the sky become overcast with the power of the Dark Side.
The power of Sith sorcery was also incredibly enticing. Sometimes it manifested as a musical undercurrent that was beautiful to some and hideous to others in order to lure the unsuspecting. Sorcery itself tempted the curious with what they grew to perceive as limitless Dark Side power, with such an opportunity compelling many to explore further, often to their own self assured corruption and destruction.
Sith Sorcery does have one noticeable weakness, however. Unlike some normal Force powers that can be generated with minimal time, sorcery requires intense concentration from the Sith. As such a Sith's ability to divide their attention between bladework and spell casting is next to impossible to accomplish. It is for that reason Sorcery cannot be properly utilised in most cases during a melee fight, so the Sith will have to disengage to cast a particularly destructive or powerful spell.
Advanced Forms of Sith Sorcery
Sith Sorcery can be separated into various forms of spellcraft and mysticism. Each form of sorcery requires dedicated time spent on learning it in order to truly understand and wield their respective power.
Physical Spells
Physical spells refers to the use of Sith sorcery to unleash devastating spells to vanquish their enemies. Particularly potent spells born of Sith magic were even capable of causing physical harm to sentients and non-sentients. These spells could cause damage to the wielder as well, such as by burning the Sith's hand after casting a particularly potent spell. Elemental uses of the Force classifies as a Physical Spell as well.
Mental Spells
Mental spells involves anything that targets the mind, senses or perceptions of another. Some Sith could conjure illusions that were potent and tangible enough to kill a victim, others could conjure a false Light Side aura to fool all but the most powerful of Jedi into believing them to be an ally as opposed to a Sith. Other mental spells may relate to the emotional or mental manipulation of a victim, such as by inflicting irreversible insanity upon a target.
Aura Generation
Many Sith, through trial and spellcraft began to formulate and conjure auras of their own design. These auras could achieve a variety of effects, such as debilitating opponents, draining morale, deconstructing willpower or even enhancing Force abilities. The creation of an aura remained a complex phenomena and oftentimes they were draining for the Sith to maintain.
Necromancy
An entirely unnatural and extremely corruptive use of sorcery, some Sith dabbled into the art of reanimating the bodies of the slain as soldiers and thralls, though these individuals would lack the mental capabilities that they had in life. Raising the dead in this way was extremely corruptive not just for a Sith's physical body, but of the Sith's mind and spirit as well.
