~ Rules ~
General rules for in RP and out of RP, as well as creating characters. There may be a lot of rules, but they're also partially common sense, as well as for any clarification purposes. If you have a question, feel free to ask!
General rules for in RP and out of RP, as well as creating characters. There may be a lot of rules, but they're also partially common sense, as well as for any clarification purposes. If you have a question, feel free to ask!
We follow a 3 strike system here. For each rule broken, you will receive a message in your DMs and a warning. On the third rule broken, a mod will tell you in DMs what rules you've broken in total so far and if you're in danger of being kicked. There will be some leniency with certain mistakes, and those will only come with a minor warning--not a strike. If you break 3 major rules/get 3 strikes, we will kick you from the server with a reason attached. Within 6 months, if you've changed your attitude, we will let you back in. If you broke a single rule that was severe enough, you will be kicked only after a single strike. The 6-month rule will only apply here if it was something we as mods agree can be changed, but otherwise, it will be a permanent ban. If you come back after the 6 month period and receive only one strike in that time, you will be kicked or banned, again depending on severity.
1. Please treat every member in the server with respect. There will be no tolerance for any kind of bigotry (transphobia, racism, homophobia, ableism, etc), and no slurs AT ALL are allowed, even if they can be reclaimed by you. This is for the general comfort of the entire server, and the fact that we cannot dictate whether you're actually able to reclaim a certain slur or not.
2. The age limit for this WCRP is 18+, as we don't want anyone younger involved until we feel they'll be more prepared for the content featured, as well as just generally making it feel better so we don't have anyone super young interacting with someone comparatively much older.
3. Be aware of the blacklist, and do not talk about any topic on it without spoiling it--and preferably, don't talk about it at all, if possible. Refusal to regard the blacklist, or at least not spoilering the topics referred to on it, will be met with 3 warnings, then a kick from the server.
4. Vaguely NSFW jokes are allowed, but please don't go overboard, and spoiler the jokes if they're made. As much as there's no minors in the server, I still don't need any sexual talk or extreme jokes, especially about the characters in the RP themselves. As they are cats, you will receive a strike if you make any NSFW jokes about the feral characters in the server. There will also be no NSFW RPs/threads in the server at all, and if I genuinely hear about you roleplaying anything sexual with your cats even outside the server, you will be banned from the server.
5. If you have any issues with another member of the server or a member is harassing you, contact a mod/make a ticket and we will see if there's something we can do about the situation to the best of our ability.
6. If someone is uncomfortable with any topics in chat, be respectful of their discomfort and change the topic immediately. You may continue the conversation with anyone else that was involved in their DMs.
7. If you own a high-ranking cat and are going on a hiatus/will not be available for some time, please contact a mod so we can work out what to do with your cat while you're gone and make a note of it in the hiatus alerts channel. Another thing, if you're going to leave the server at all, please message a mod so we know what to do with your cats. If you fail to tell anyone about your plans to leave and suddenly leave, we will just retcon them entirely if they had no impact on the plot, but if they did have some sort of impact, then we will work out how to handle the character's disappearance as mods. This may include death, so be sure to let us know how to handle your cats if you're going to leave the server for any reason.. The only exception with this would be for adopted characters. If you did not discuss how ownership with an adopted character would work with the person who made the adoptable in the first place, then they will return to the person who made it, unless they say otherwise.
8. There is going to be a limit of one high-ranking position per person, as we want other people to get a chance to be a high-ranking role. Mods are mostly excluded from this rule, due to a potential need for trustworthy individuals to play important roles, especially at the start of the RP.
9. Please do not mini-mod or act as though you’re superior to others. You may say politely that you don’t think something is allowed in the server, or politely answer a question in questions if you believe you know the answer, but otherwise, just @ or message a mod if you think something is wrong. We do appreciate your help when you answer questions or make sure people are following the rules, though!
10. Please do not argue with the mods when they make a decision about anything. You are allowed to ask questions in one of our DMs or open a ticket if you’re uncertain about a choice, and we will do our best to cooperate, while also not divulging private information that we don't want to provide. This applies to both rule breaks, as well as character creation.
11. As a general rule of etiquette/being nice, please comment on/compliment/react to someone’s art or writing in the art and writing channel if they received no notice before sending your own art or writing. This is just to make sure people don’t feel ignored or unseen when posting their creations! You will not receive any warnings for not following this rule, it’s just a nice thing to do.
12. Drug and alcohol talk isn't something I particularly want talked about, so if you feel the need to bring it up, please spoiler mentions of it. Also, don't talk about being high or drunk while talking in the server, it's uncomfortable.
13. Art theft is forbidden from the server. If you intend to use or post someone else's art, you must have permission from them and credit them in the post, or link directly to where you got the art from if you're just sharing art for fun. If you claim art is yours when it's really not, you will be banned from the server. Photographs of cats or other animals, when used for character profiles, must also be credited.
14. Please don't send messages outside of the proper channels. Do not send out of character messages in the roleplay channels, and don't roleplay in the out of character channels. I get that sometimes conversations can move around freely and it's hard to control the direction they go in, but please try to keep in mind that there's channels for almost anything! The general chat is the only chat where anything is allowed to be talked about. Just don't talk over anyone!
15. Generally, please don't vent in the server. You can complain about something or say that you're going through a rough time, but don't talk about how depressed you are in there. The server is meant to be a positive place, so constant complaining and venting only helps bring the mood down, and that's not really needed. If you seriously feel like you need to talk to someone, you can ask in the chat if anyone's available, but just know that the other people in this server are NOT your therapists. Don't expect them to be able to help, and don't expect them to be able to listen to your grievances.
16. Since this server is an open server, you are allowed to invite anyone you want here, as long as you're absolutely certain they're a good person and will be willing to follow the rules here. We will run background checks on everyone when they enter the server just to make sure we can trust anyone who comes in, no matter who they are.
17. There are certain things in this server that can be earned through a point system. By doing work with a bot every day, you can earn one point, as well as doing RP threads with other members in the server. These points you earn can be used to buy rare elements for your cats, special happenings, the ability to have a blursed cat, and so on. This system exists so people aren't making extremely rare or special characters all the time, and they only belong to the characters who are actually willing to put in the effort to earn them and be active with them.
1. Do NOT god-mod or make your character super overpowered. Fights will be done by rolling dice, so there’s always going to be luck and randomness involved, OR they will be discussed beforehand, so you already know what the outcome will be. To avoid being overpowered, make all attacks open ended, so your messages would look more like “They swung at his muzzle,” rather than “They sliced his muzzle.” Keep in mind that your character is not invincible, though they will not die unless you say they’re going to, and you’ve discussed it with a mod.
2. On the topic of characters dying, ALWAYS ask for consent before killing another player’s character. NEVER assume you’re allowed to kill anyone whenever. Deaths must be discussed beforehand, and a mod must be made aware of the plans before it ever occurs. Mods will also never kill a cat of yours for plot, unless they have actively discussed the plans with you beforehand. No death will come out of the blue, NO MATTER WHAT.
3. We do not allow massive age gaps or incest in relationships, as well as mentor/pip relationships. Pips and chips are only allowed to have crushes--they are not allowed to be in relationships until they become adults. This is completely barred from backstories as well. Any roleplay of sexual content and sexual assault/harassment is banned as well. Physically and mentally abusive situations are allowed to be played, as long as it’s properly tagged and spoiled. Due to the nature of this RP, vague references to darker subjects may be touched on in backstories, but nothing will actually come up IN RP.
4. When things such as death or gore are roleplayed, make sure to properly spoiler and tag it. Despite this being a horror based RP, these situations can still be upsetting and it’s better to spoiler it for the safety of the members of the server.
5. Please contact a mod before deciding to do any plot-heavy roleplays or decisions, such as murder, mutilation, Deity/God interaction, interacting with spirits, swapping/leaving groups, having kits, gaining a title, being blessed, and other such huge plot-heavy situations.
6. Please be semi-literate while roleplaying. No replacing ‘you’ with ‘u’ or other shortcuts, and add proper punctuation. This makes it clearer and easier to read. There’s no rule of having to make a response super long, but please try to do at least 2-3 sentences or more when responding to others, and please try to match reply length of the person you're RPing with if you can. If you can't make your reply as long as theirs, that's fine! Just try to if you can. Along with this, we only write in third person. There is no second or first person writing allowed in the server for RPs, and do not write anyone else's cats. Don't ever assume what another person's character might do, and don't write for their character without their explicit permission.
7. Muns are not responsible for their muse's thoughts, actions, opinions, or worldviews, nor do they support or condone whatever actions their muse has committed. Do not harass or question anyone who's playing a less favorable type of character.
8. There will be no activity checks, except for people playing high role characters or plot-centric ones. In that regard, a mod will just message you asking what's going on after about a month of inactivity. Otherwise, everyone else has free reign to do whatever! There are no times threads SHOULD be completed and liquid-timing is definitely allowed. Sometimes life and keeping up muse is hard, so I want everyone to feel like they can still roleplay, even if it’s been a while since their last reply to a thread.
9. The only time threads SHOULD be wrapped up is if it's a major, plot-heavy event of some sort, such as a Mirror meeting or a Call. Major battles are another plot-heavy thing that will need to be wrapped up in a timely manner. Life of course exists, but please remember that there WILL be times where threads should be finished in a timely manner.
10. Please note that if you want your cat to be involved in plot or important lore stuff, you need to speak up and talk to the mods about what you want to do! We don't mind working with people to fit their cats into the story more, but we're not going to approach people unless we have an idea of what we need for the plot! Please let us know when you're interested in getting involved, or make a ticket if you've got an idea for what you want to do in the story.
11. Just for a note, all time in the RP is based off months. Each month is a moon, with the major event of the month (The Call or the Messaging) being what marks a new moon. You can go by that, or just say that the 1st of every month is a new moon. Characters don't need to be aged up exactly, but you should remember how many moons your cat is, and how many moons have passed since you originally added them to the server so you CAN update it easily as needed.
12. When and if your character dies, they will end up where you and the mods decide they fit best. You may still be allowed to play them as a spirit, depending on where they ended up in death. This will be something that NEEDS to be discussed with a mod before any major decisions are made.
13. Due to the world the cats live in, they are aware of humans and human-types and their own creations. They know what a car is, they know what hammers are, and some might even be able to read human languages and understand human languages. They know what fuck means, and they don't really use words like fox-heart or mouse-dung. They just say motherfucker and shit.
1. There will be NO designs that could possibly be offensive to other cultures. This includes tribal-type skull masks, feathers behind ears, tribal body paint, and so on. Bone piercings are not allowed, but claw and tooth piercings are. Normal human piercings are also allowed because I literally do not care and I think it's fun.
2. Accessories are allowed on cats! Things such as bandannas, bracelets, necklaces, etc, those are all allowed on cats. Even if a cat would not be able to wear the accessory in the real world, I do not care. This is a fake world, do whatever you want, go crazy. Just ask a mod beforehand if a design or accessory is okay... Because sometimes we might add a little bit of meaning to that object for you!
2. Unnatural pelt designs ARE allowed, but I only ask that you don’t make the cats eye-searingly bright, like using neon colors for their fur. That just hurts some peoples' eyes, and it’d be better to avoid it. Otherwise, green cats are allowed, rainbow swirled cats are allowed, literally anything as long as it's not eye-searing!
4. While cats with unnatural pelt designs are allowed, make sure the design matches the aspects of the Deck in some way! White cats need to have warm colors or white on their pelt somewhere and generally look more whimsical than other Decks, and so on for the other Decks. If they don't have some sort of resemblance to the Deck you want them to be in, then we can work out a solution! Just make a ticket or ask a mod for help!
5. Character personalities also matter when it comes to the Decks. Although I'm not going to be very strict with how cats should act, I do generally want them to fit in the Deck, UNLESS the Deck is not the one they truly belong in. Sometimes they can fit in a different Deck more than the one they're currently in, but that has to be made clear when the character is being made. Just be aware of this when making a character! The passcode to enter the server is 'Skoopy Banoopy'.
6. Cats come with elemental magic in this world, so when making a character, make sure you know what element works best for them, and stay aware of the RARITY of the elements as well. Bolt, Nature, and Dew are the most common elements, while Bright, Flare, and Hollow all require cards to acquire for your characters. The points needed to buy these cards aren't hard to get as long as you're an active member of the server, but I would genuinely prefer it if you didn't try to make all of your characters have rare elements.
7. Mutations are more likely to be allowed, as long as they’re discussed with a mod beforehand so we know how to work around any possible body horror or confusion regarding the mutation and what it is. Non-realistic mutations are also allowed to be worked with! Those are ones you'll have to discuss with a mod, but if you've got an idea for an interesting mutation, we will work with you!
8. Physical disabilities are allowed, as long as you’re respectful and realistic about the disability. Mental disorders are also allowed, as long as proper research is put into it, and a mod is informed of what mental disorder you’re planning for your cat to have. There’s a few that I’m going to be more strict about, so telling a mod about this decision is important. Remember too, don’t fall into ableist tropes. Disabled Suits/warriors don’t need to retire, and they don’t need to be Mirrors. Don’t write a cat being forced into a role because of their disability.
9. Outsiders, spirits, blessed, and kittens are in limited quantities. Please contact a mod if you’re thinking about making a limited access character, and we can discuss how to go about it! Make sure you have enough points to buy whatever you want as well, as these special roles will require points to have a character of one of these, and make sure the specific thing you want to make isn't closed. Its open or closed status will be listed in the Allegiances spreadsheet.
10. The character limit is currently at 6. This will most likely raise over time, but it’s enough for you to have a cat in each group for now, and plus some. If you make all 6 cats, we ask that you try to roleplay them all evenly! You cannot make a new cat if you haven’t roleplayed your previously added one yet, just so there’s not unplayed cats in the server.
11. When making a character with a Title, note that they do NOT only have to use that Title as their name. They may still go by their basic Suit name. The Title is literally just a title that also acts as a name.
12. When making a character, you are not allowed to use these words in their prefix, suffix, or Title, due to them being lore relevant:
White, Red, Black, Pale, Club, Diamond, Heart, Spade.
These names are not allowed purely as Titles, and are allowed as prefixes:
Lightning, Flood, Blizzard, Condition, Feline, Hysteria, Mass, Forest, Fire, Extinction, Comet, Epidemic, Tornado.
13. You also may not use any Titles or prefixes that are already taken by any members in the server. If the cat with a Title or prefix has been inactive for a period of time, and someone wants that Title or prefix, a mod will check in and see if they still want that cat.
Creative/odd/mystical names are okay to use because I personally think they're awesome as hell. If it's man-made or human-related though, ask a mod first if the name is okay.
14. Since prefixes and Titles are only allowed to be had by one character at a time, you're allowed to dib these in advance! If there's a prefix or Title you want in the future, just alert a mod and we will add it to a list. You have a month to make the cat you want with a specific prefix when you've dibbed it, and when it comes to Titles, we will hold onto it until your cat has earned that Title through RP.
15. When making a character who's supposed to be a high rank, make sure they fit the requirements for that high rank. These will be posted in the profile submission template channel for each individual high rank, so when submitting your character, make sure to fill out those requirements as well. If they aren't suitable to a position, or the requirements aren't filled out as needed, a mod will inform you to either fix it, or will work with you to figure out a solution.
16. You cannot submit a Hand that's expecting kittens as your first cat. You can however submit an expecting cat as any number OTHER than your first, but we'd prefer that you've been an active member before doing so. The max amount of kittens in a litter is 3, but if you want more than that, there's a card you can buy to increase the amount to 4 or 5.
17. If you know who you want your cat to mentor/be mentored by, make sure to alert a mod so we're able to make a note about it on the allegiances! If you want us to assign your cat a mentor/apprentice ourselves, Also let us know that!
18. If you want to submit a pip, let us know if you have a suit name in mind for them, or if you'd like us to come up with a suffix on our own! Either is fine, and we don't mind if you choose your own suffix or want us to give you one as a surprise! Same goes for Titles. If you have a Title in mind for your cat that you'd like them to receive in the future, let us know, and we can help nudge your cat in the direction of receiving that Title.
