There are many ways to say 'Hello' and 'Welcome' but until recently we didn't offer a welcome or even an acknowledgment of arriving in Johnstown. No street marker and no signpost. That's just changed thanks to Johnstown Tidy Towns with support from Meath County Council.
With 5 roads leading into Johnstown there are 3 signs to Welcome your arrival and all reference Old Johnstown Village whereas the Tidy Towns entry and 'Johnstown' covers a much wider area.

Therefore Johnstown Tidy Towns commissioned 3 additional roadside markers to compliment those already on display.

Meath County Council recently installed these North and South on Metges Road and also the west Ardboyne Bridge approach road.

We don't think the Council has obtained a business sponsor for the central Johnstown roundabout and apart from it needing some repairs and a clean, the inner perimeter blockwork is a potential canvas for either something artistic or a simple message that will be seen by thousands daily.

We don't actually envisage a simple title like 'Johnstown' but it could be a challenge for the schools to create a design that could be painted onto the block work.
