Get Your PL In Gear

June 2018

I’m a writer. I always have been. However, there was something a little bit terrifying about starting an educational blog. It matters a great deal to me that if I start a blog - I have something worth saying - that it will be a positive contribution to the educational community. Because otherwise...why write it. What would I write about? Is anything I have to say - IMPORTANT?

Anyone who has ever had a truly candid educational conversation with me - and I mean truly candid, not a coaching conversation - will probably think about how worked up I can get about topics in education. What I really get fired up about, though, is professional learning. Growing Teachers. Coaching teachers into educational leaders. It. Matters.

I’ve been on this road of transforming professional learning. And I had this epiphany, of sorts, one morning. If I don’t write it, who will? And then suddenly I had the Hamilton lyrics in my head - Who tells your story? In this case, it’s me. If I don’t write it, who will. In all of our searching for information, we heard repeatedly that Professional Learning needed to change. We struggled to find the “how” and what that looked like through all the theory. This journey of changing the structure of professional learning is too important. It matters. We have been through a lot. And it is powerful stuff.

So...Welcome to the Get Your PL In Gear Blog. Through this blog I am going to share about our journey towards effective professional learning - from frustration and disconnect to integrated personalized professional learning. To learn more about the partnership that is traveling this road be sure to check out the “About the Team” page, and then journey with us.

I hope that through telling our PL story, it inspires others to take action, to be innovative, and to take a little risk in changing the face of professional learning.
