The Gluniverse Shattering was an event in mid-early 2021 that ended the lives of most Glue Creatures in an instant.
The Gluniverse Shattering started with a sudden earthquake that quickly rose to a 7.9 magnitude earthquake. Tides began to rise and heavy rain fell with gusts that sped up to 248 mph (~400 km/h). Multiple Glue Creatures retreated to an underground shelter and waited for the storm to pass through, but the entrance was broken through by falling debris and forced the Glue Creatures to try and desperately escape. Most of them perished, and the ones that survived were either recovered by rescue teams or were located in a secure bunker created by HV and Dino-Weapon under the Old HQ. The storm continued for approximately 9 days before it finally calmed down and the rain stopped.
The Shattering drowned many Glue Creatures and dissolved their bodies, and the only survivors of the storm include Gluewind, Araiya, Glue the Blob, and Glue Sans, while others such as Glue Bunny, Glue Buddy, and Glue Girl were hidden in the Old HQ's secret bunker designed for storms like the one the Shattering caused. Gluewind was recovered by The Editor about 2 months after the Shattering stopped and restored her to full health. He also found Glue the Blob and Glue Sans with her, although they were less damaged and only needed a few weeks of recovery. Araiya was discovered about 4 weeks later, where she was the least hurt out of all the Glue Creatures since she could harness the Water Element and therefore took less damage, although she still needed roughly 5 days of recovery time. The other Glue Creatures found, including Glynder, Endy, and Gluelight, were already dead when they were found with the first 3 Glue Creatures.
Nobody truly knows how or why the Gluniverse Shattering occurred, but there are some theories. One popular theory states that it was excessive global warming and climate change caused the extreme weather during the Shattering, and this has the most evidence supporting it. Another popular theory states that something happened to the Moon that disturbed the natural balance of Earth, causing the Shattering. While there is less evidence supporting this theory, the in-universe version of NASA discovered that the Moon was positioned about 5 miles further from Earth after the Shattering than it was before. One thing that most, if not, all people can agree on is that Steve was not to blame, as he was also forced to stay underground during the Shattering. He also stated that he had no intention of ever causing an event like that, nor did he have the resources and technology required to artificially cause a storm of that destruction.
The Gluniverse Shattering took place before Waterglue was even discovered, which explains where the Waterglue Creatures were during the event.
Despite the 3 main Glue bunnies being hidden in the Old HQ's secret bunker, The Editor still had to keep the HQ from being destroyed, as he reported that rain had started seeping in from the windows and the outside was completely flooded by the second day.
Multiple rescue teams were sent to find the remaining Glue Creatures after the Shattering ended. These groups include:
RT-3170, consisting of multiple Navy officers and The Editor
RT-8075, consisting of Dino-Weapon, Rx. Funtime Foxy, and some smaller waterproof colored robots
RT-41135, consisting of HV, Vector, and dozens of Kirbos with waterproof suits
RT-4605, consisting of the 3 Elemental Dragons (Ice, Aqua, and Forest), Gold 'n Silver UXW, and the Water Skylander Zap
RT-730735, consisting of Piffle, Stupid Sans, and some Marines
Due to the extremely violent nature of the Shattering's storm, this caused major damage not just to the entire Gluniverse population on Earth, but to most other building in proximity of this storm, as the wind speeds match that of a tornado.
The Gluniverse Shattering seems to be a much more destructive and massive version of the S.T.O.R.M. from the FNaRF series, which also has extremely heavy rains, although this only seems to harm Glue Creatures and most FNaRF characters.
