Eyepieces are tools that allow the wearer to observe and interact with the Null. In the Gluniverse, only 3 characters have eyepieces:
GLuE-tar's eye lens also seems to be able to function like a normal eyepiece would, but this needs further examination.
Eyepieces have many properties, most of which originated with The Room series. These properties are categorized into 3 main groups: Standard, Advanced, and Miscellaneous.
Standard Properties
See invisible ink: All eyepieces that have the standard lens are able to see invisible ink left by some form of the Null. These hidden messages can sometimes be seen with Blacklight Flashlights, but most of the time, it doesn't work.
Chrome Surface Manipulation (CSM): Any kind of chrome or rainbow surface can be seen through by the eyepiece and allows the wearer to interact with anything behind the surface.
Advanced Properties
Null Glyph Tuning (NGT): Some eyepiece lenses allow the user to tune Null glyphs, which are arrangements of Null crystals that, when viewed correctly, allow a certain action to trigger. For example, at the end of The Room, a Null glyph appears and, once tuned, opens the doorway to the next game. However, since the lens was not crafted with the NGT property, it shatters due to sheer force.
Superzoom: Superzoom lenses allow the user to enter passages with small Null fragments at the entrances, shrinking the wearer down to fit the place they are exploring.
Ultrazoom: This is essentially the same as Superzooming in TROS, which allows the wearer to enter the dollhouse, allowing them to move freely in it. However, Ultrazooming allows the wearer to enter any form of small entrance that has been influenced by the Null. To an extent, it also allows them to practically teleport a set distance to reach a certain Null-based destination. The limit to how far it can be is currently unknown.
Miscellaneous Properties
Null Editing: This property allows the wearer to manipulate the Null to do a variety of things, such as solving a Null-based puzzle. The only limit is that it can only manipulate a small amount of the Null at a time.
Standard Eyepiece: These are what the protagonist wears in The Room games 1-3. They have all Standard properties and, with the correct lenses, have NGT and Superzoom properties as well.
Hydrus' Eyepiece: This is used by Hydrus in TROS, and has all Standard and Advanced properties, with the exception being Ultrazoom being the seal-breaking Superzoom in the game.
Goggle Eyepiece: This eyepiece is used by the Detective in TRADM and has all Standard, NGT, and Superzoom properties, but it also has an extra ability, which allows for the usage of solving Star Puzzles.
Golden Eyepiece: These are the main Gluniverse eyepieces, which both Glue Buddy and Glue UXW own. However, they are also modifiable, which Glue Buddy uses to make N.E.S.S.I.E., an AI that is attached to his eyepiece. Glue UXW does not visually modify his eyepiece, but he has made it compatible with his own powers and allows him to create portals and fire beams of plasma at a given target. These all have Standard and NGT properties.
Glue Eyepiece: This eyepiece is used by Glue Sans and only has the ability to see invisible ink, as well as having both NGT and Null Editing properties linked to it.
Silver Eyepiece: This eyepiece is much bigger than the eyepieces that have been shown on the channel, being roughly double the size and weight of the Golden Eyepiece. The Silver Eyepiece has all properties, including Null Editing. However, it is currently unable to be used due to its size.
Clay Eyepiece: The Clay Eyepiece only has the Standard properties and is not currently in use.
Lenses are crucial for eyepieces to function. Each eyepiece has at least one lens, but their abilities are able to be combined to form new lenses. Each lens has at least one ability and one of 8 different colors.
Lenses
Standard Lens: The Standard Lens allows the eyepiece to have all Standard properties.
Glyph Lens: Glyph Lenses grants the eyepiece NGT properties. All orange lenses are Glyph Lenses.
Superzoom Lens: These lenses give the eyepiece Superzooming properties. All blue lenses are Superzoom Lenses.
Ultrazoom Lens: Ultrazoom Lenses allow the user to Ultrazoom. All cyan lenses are Ultrazoom Lenses.
Dark Lens: The Dark Lens allows the user to use Null Editing.
Colors
Red: Red lenses allow the user to see red ink exclusively.
Orange: Orange lenses allow the user to see gold ink and use NGT.
Green: Green lenses allow the user to see blue ink and exclusively green ink.
Cyan: Cyan lenses allow the user to Ultrazoom.
Blue: Blue lenses allow the user to see blue ink and Superzoom.
Purple: Purple lenses allow the user to see blue ink.
Black: Black lenses allow the user to see blue ink.
Clear: Clear lenses allow the user to see blue ink.
Rainbow: Rainbow lenses allow the user to see all colors of ink. There is only one in existence.
