yes, I am definitely going too far.
Granil is considered a dying planet. Its core is cooling, the rotation is slowing down, days and nights are getting longer, the planet is completely dry and the people are almost completely deprived of basic survival needs. Like a lot of my planets, it is also a desert planet.
Granil's ocean is completely dry except for a few locations, but the water is unusable due to the incredibly high salinity. The dried former-ocean-floors are covered in stretches of salt, called the salt plains. The former continents have split into a maze of valleys after centuries of earthquake activity and extreme water deprivation. Civilization exists in these valleys to avoid direct sunlight.
Granil is a planet of the Solar System
Capital city of Granil, A densely populated city on the edge of the northeastern salt plains.
Heavily populated city of Granil, located along the Irshar river.
A northern city, known for its year round frosty weather and beautiful night skies.
A city dug into a crater in the southern hemisphere. Made up of largely residential districts, known for its harsh weather conditions.
The Granila live in the cracked former continents to avoid direct sunlight. Most buildings are carved into the sides of these chunks of land and bridges and rails connect the walls. Tarps are hung in the spaces between canyon walls to block sunlight. The civilization is often concentrated in areas near oasis and near water veins that are occasionally exposed.
Due to the desolate nature of Granil, its citizens have grown to become dependent on imports from other planets. In exchange, Granil trades precarious metals that are abundant on the planet, the most famous of which is byarack steel.
Before the conclusion of the Ego-Terra war, Granil received aid from Terra, as they are in the same star system. After the conclusion of the war and the downfall of Terran civilization, the EC has taken responsibility to provide recourses to the inhabitants of Granil.
