The moment has finally come. You have decided to turn your Flash Glucose Monitoring system into a CGM, but not into a basic one: a far more powerful one, with extremely wide personalisation options. xDrip+ is the only software which can allow you to do this effectively, with also the possibility to link your system to a smartwatch (here you can find a detailed guide). Let's proceed with order.
For what concerns Freestyle Libre 3, since its relatively recent release, no information has been released yet on its compatibility with xDrip+, and it probably won't be released in the short term. However, in this case the sensor native functions will effectively replace a part of xDrip+ ones.
Instead, thanks to its native BT connection, Freestyle Libre 2 can be directly connected to xDrip+ only working with your smartphone, and even though the process might seem a bit complicated at first, it will become way easier only with a bit of practice. Here's the link to the complete and detailed guide which I followed myself.
On the other hand, the setup with Freestyle Libre 1 is far more linear and less complicated, even though, due to the lack of a native BT connection into the sensor, you will need to buy a third party transmitter in order to link it with xDrip+. Prices aren't extremely cheap, but you will have to purchase one of these devices only once and, in my opinion, it is extremely worth it. I chose to buy a MiaoMiao2, and here is the link to this company's site, with the relative setup guideline which is valid for every MiaoMiao device.
Having tried them both myself, I am perfectly aware of how long and complicated these processes might seem, but, if you are able not to get discouraged and to keep trying, you will be able to finally enjoy the wonderful possibilities which xDrip+ can give you, owning the very ultimate tool to manage your diabetes.
