It all began with the kingdom of Valencia, which reigned as the capital city of the world during its prime. A set of twins were born to the royal family, both boys, and the discussion of who would succeed the throne began. The two did not differ in age, nor in capability, yet one always seemed to be favored over the other. Jealousy struck the heart of the other brother, who was always seen as lesser despite his desperate attempts to show the world his power. Once the king had died, the favorited son ascended the throne, but the other son refused to accept defeat. He challenged his brother to a duel, winner takes the throne. The two fought, and the favorited won; banishing the other twin to the neighboring continent, along with all of his supporters. 

On fresh land, the banished son began to build his empire, which is now modern day Karsia. As the kingdom grew and expanded, the brother had intentions to control the entirety of the continent. He made his way north where he easily conquered the previously dominant kingdom, Solus, and established a larger kingdom on the mainland, Yosefa. He attempted may times to cross the Ilya Mountains to complete his quest of conquering Sydni, but several tries turned out to be failures. They were too advanced, and the climate was too harsh.

Tensions began to rise between the two continents, the division getting worse as generations passed, and familial relations continued to break. A weak treaty is the only thing keeping them from diving into chaos.

THE CONTEMPORARY

Firearms do not exist in this world, fighting is mostly done through sword and shield, with some magical power mixed in. Vessels such as ships and carriages do exist. Manufacturing has not been developed yet, but ideas such as interchangeable parts and artisans working together to produce a product does exist. They have had a Market Revolution, which means that people depend on the buying and selling of goods rather than each family making everything they need themselves. Trade is important to all of the kingdoms, as well as fishing and farming.
