Santa calls in sick; Norise steps up to save the day

Recently, the North Pole has been in for a scare, with a delayed wave of COVID-19 hitting the headquarters leading to Santa Claus temporarily stepping down. With Christmas right around the corner, this is a crucial period for all of the workers at the North Pole to get their job done by Christmas. Consequently, due to year-round work required at the North Pole, there is a mass stockpile of presents ready to be given to all the boys and girls on Santa’s nice list.

Unfortunately, Santa publicly stated that he was not able to deliver presents due to contracting the virus. This word spread around the world and let down hundreds of thousands of children nationwide.

Students in Mrs. Emma Norise’s 6th period Honors Chemistry class were among the first to learn of this tragic information. When the students found out, they stopped their work and immediately presented this conundrum to Mrs. Norise. After a quick moment of reflection, she declared that all the boys and girls around the world need this gap to be filled. She immediately put the bright wonderful angels in this class to work to create a plan.

“You know, it's nice to see Mrs. Norise extending her love out to everyone, even outside the MC community, ” sophomore RJ Risos stated. “I think this shows what a great person she is." Risos shows his gratitude for her every day by showing up prepared to class. He added, “When she approached me with the challenge of getting every child their Christmas presents, I immediately  started laying out plans for how to do so."

After the class had crunched data and peer-reviewed proposals, Mrs. Norise held a press conference announcing the big plans. “We have some of the most bright minds of perfect Mount Carmel gentlemen working on this and have devised the perfect plan,” she said. “I think we will have the football players push the sled all across the world and have the cross country team run the presents to each of the houses.” Mrs. Norise says she will take the lead role in organizing all of the presents and sorting them out for the kids. She added, “ I know this will be a daunting task but it is something that needs to be done.”

After closing the press conference, she posted openings for her team and they filled nearly instantly. The support from the MC community shows the love and appreciation for Mrs. Norise.

The only people disapproving of this movement are the kids on the naughty list. Although this list is anonymous, there is lots of speculation about who is on it, and all known info is that the MC Deans’ Office influences the outcome in part. While some might point out that this list is rigged, maybe they should try and be more angelic wonderful gentlemen who help Mrs. Norise carry her bags into her classroom every morning. But Mrs. Norise has assured all children, “There will be enough presents for all."

Additionally, in the wave of illnesses, reports have circulated of disappearances of shorter MC students. Faculty have been informed by the MC main office that these students will be missing some class time for a special field trip.
